Meteorfall: Krumit’s Tale is available for pre-registration on Google Play

July 31, 2020 Pre-registration for Meteorfall: Kurmit’s Tale is now open on Android

Meteorfall: Krumit’s Tale is now available pre-registration for Android users on Google Play. The brilliant deckbuilding roguelike has been on PC for some time now but is nearing a full launch on mobile. Krumit’s Tale is the sequel to the incredibly well-received Meteorfall: Journeys, another card-based roguelike with Tinder mechanics. However, in this Meteorfall, the Tinder mechanics are shelved for a more dynamic three-by-three grid system. This may not seem like an enormous deal, but to anyone who played the original, this is game-changing.

Roguelikes offer superb replayability as no two playthroughs are the same. They compound this by including five unique starting heroes in Meteorfall: Krumit’s Tale, each with their own playstyle. Although the gameplay changes each time you die, your progress is saved in other ways. After several runs, you will unlock the starting characters and new cards to use.

Not everyone is a fan of roguelikes, but if there was ever one to convert non-believers, Meteorfall is the game to do so. If you are interested in pre-registering for Meteorfall: Krumit’s Tale, or if you want to see the games official trailer, read on for more details.

You can pre-register for Meteorfall: Kurmit’s Tale by vising Google Play and clicking the large green button.

The trailer of Meteorfall: Krumit’s Tale is not too revealing when it comes to the combat itself. The three-by-three grid system is on screen for a couple of seconds, before the character cards and animations take over. With that being said, the art style and animation quality is top-notch.

Get speedy solitaire game Cast for free on Android and iOS!

We here are Pocket Tactics love ourselves a good puzzle game, especially when they’re easy to pick-up-and-play on the move. Games like Threes! or deck-based dungeon games like Card Crawl are always a great way to spend a little time. So that’s why this week we decided to partner with Badbones Productions to give away codes for Cast – a fast-swiping, no nonsense, card-based puzzle game. Cast is free-to-play, but we’ve currently got codes for removing the in-games ads on Android and iOS.

In a similar vein to Threes!, the game centres around combining your cards to earn points, but there’s a little bit of a match-three component as card colour also becomes a consideration. The most important thing to remember, however, is that if you go below zero, you’re done.

Cast builds on a simple formula and escalates it, introducing new cards that damage your total, movement cards that push you in certain directions, and different colours that swap your type. When you round it all off with a lovely vintage aesthetic, it’s a decent little game!

So if fast-swiping card play sounds like your sort of thing, enter below and you might get your hands on one of our Android or iOS codes. If you do, though, please read our terms and conditions first!

If you want to start playing Cast now, you can find it on Google Play and the App Store. You can also check out our list of the best mobile card games should it please you. Good luck! (We’re rooting for you).

The deck building card game Marvel Duel is available for pre-registration

The latest game in the Marvel universe is Marvel Duel, and it’s ready for pre-registration now in certain territories. The fast-paced card game features your favourite heroes from the entire saga. Although no exact release date has been confirmed, the pre-registration suggests that the full launch of Marvel Duel is not too far away.

Marvel Duel is a game where you collect superheroes to fight for you against the forces of evil. The aim of the game is to build as strong a deck as possible out of the 150+ characters available. It’s clear that the game is all about collecting and upgrading characters, but there are also equipment, abilities, and trap cards needed to build a supreme deck.

Details on the newest Marvel game are surprisingly sparse. However, judging from the game description and screenshots, fans of traditional CCGs will be familiar with the Hearthstone-looking game board. The description also reveals that a mysterious force has altered the iconic events in Marvel history. This means you can expect to see some familiar settings in the story mode.

Marvel Duel Pre-registration: Where can i pre-register

You can pre-register for Marvel Duel on both the App Store and Google Play. It’s worth mentioning that the pre-registrations are geographically restricted to the following countries.

  • Thailand
  • Indonesia
  • Philippines
  • Malaysia

Although we don’t have an exact date of when to expect the game to head west, you can expect to hear more about it in the coming weeks.

Marvel Duel trailer: How does the gameplay look?

Marvel Duel looks like your traditional turn-based card game. If you are familiar with Hearthstone, then you will already know what to expect from Marvel Duel. If you would like to see the trailer, check out the 15 second teaser below.

Marvel Duel character list: How many characters are there?

Although it is still too early to provide a complete list of characters, the game page states there will be over 150. While flicking through some new screenshots of Marvel Duel, we discovered that there are 183 cards to collect. Whether this is just characters or items included, it’s fair to say that you will see a lot of familiar faces.

Marvel Duel online: Will I be able to fight my friends?

Marvel games are always keen on uniting players through guilds or alliances. Sometimes these features are added after launch. In Duel, there are some elements of a community. For example, the leaderboards tab and the duel game mode. It would surprise us if Marvel Duel had no in-game friends list or private match capability, but it’s still too early to tell.

Marvel Duel Download: How to get an APK

If you are looking to get your hands on an APK of Marvel Duel, you can do so from APKPure. We have yet to try it out ourselves, but there are plenty of trustworthy sites offering their own versions if you can’t wait.

Deck building Witcher RPG Thronebreaker suddenly releases on iOS

CD Projekt Red, in a sudden turn of events, has launched Thronebreaker on iOS. No one seems to have known that The Witcher RPG was coming to mobile, but it’s a pleasant surprise nonetheless! You can also download Thronebreaker on the App Store right now, for those of you that can’t wait. Since Gwent: The Witcher Card game launched on mobile not so long ago, we’ve been waiting for Thronebreaker news, as a deck building RPG that uses the same card system – check our Gwent review to find out more!

CD Projekt Red originally developed Thronebreaker as the story mode for Gwent, before deciding to create The Witcher Tales and spin it off into its own game. We’re glad it did, though, as Thronebreaker is both an excellent RPG and deck building game.

For those that don’t know, Thronebreaker follows the story of Queen Meve, a beloved character from the books who knights Geralt, hence his ‘of Rivia’ title. Her story involves traipsing across The Continent, trying to reclaim her kingdom, as, all while, the second Nilfgaardian war rages around her.

You can watch the iOS release trailer below if you want to see how it plays:

In celebration of Thronebreaker coming to mobile, CD Projekt Red are giving away a set of rewards, including the soundtrack, some concept art, and an annotated map of Lyria – one of Meve’s kingdoms. Gwent players can also claim some benefits from jumping into Thronebreaker, such as unique ornaments, and 20 new cards.

We’re excited to see Thronebreaker finally take its rightful place on mobile, as a game that is perfectly built for the platform. If you want to find out more about creating the art of The Witcher universe, we spoke to Gwent’s art director not so long ago about creating Gwent’s card art – check it out!

Gwent’s next expansion is coming out this month

There’s some good news if you’re looking to freshen up your Gwent deck with some new cards. CD Projekt Red has revealed that the game is getting another free expansion for iOS and Android. The Gwent Master Mirror release date is set for June 30, 2020, so there’s not long to wait at all.

The new Gwent expansion adds more than 70 new cards that are themed around Witcher 3 baddie Gaunter O’Dimm and his role in the events of the Continent’s history. In amongst these new cards, you can find faction-specific ones and a new Legendary card type that evolves in both appearance and power as your fight rumbles on. You’ll also find 11 neutral cards that can be used in any of Gwent’s factions. If that’s not enough, the Master Mirror update also introduces new statuses and abilities. So there’s plenty of new tools for strategising.

While the Gwent Master Mirror release date is a wee bit away, pre-order offers have already been added to the Gwent store in-game. If you check out these offers, you’ll find packs that will grant you new cards from the expansion when it comes out, alongside a unique Gaunter O’Dimm leader skin. There’s also a Master Mirror-inspired cardback and title in certain packs that are ready to equip in-game after you get ’em.

In case you’ve been out of the loop, Gwent is a turn-based card game that was initially playable in The Witcher 3 before it got a standalone release on iOS and then Android. Each game is played between two people and lasts three rounds. Each deck has at least 25 cards and comes from a different faction that affects your playstyle. You can check out Sean’s Gwent review for more of our thoughts.

Looks like a Slay the Spire mobile update is coming soon

Details on Slay the Spire‘s mobile release date have been thin on the ground since game developer Mega Crit Games revealed it would be delayed past 2019 late last year. That could all be set to change, however, as one of the developers working on the project reveals we should get an update soon.

Anthony Giovannetti replied to someone on Twitter late last May explaining that an update “should” arrive this month. “We should have an announcement on mobile within the next 30 days,” he explains. That was tweeted May 22, so if you want to get super technical about it, you could say we should hear something by June 21. That said, you never know what might happen with unforeseen circumstances, so it’s probably best to sit tight.

Our last update from Mega Crit games came back in January after the developer told another fan that the mobile port was going “through the QA pass” and was “solely in our publisher’s hands at this point”. The final QA process in games development can take a while, but we should hopefully get a better idea of when we can play Slay the Spire on iOS and Android soon.

In case you’ve yet to play Slay the Spire, it’s a rogue-like card battle that fully launched on PC in 2019. You try to make your way up the titular tower, battling hordes of goons as you go. There’s no room to get used to things, though, as the tower will change each time you die – so you’ll need to be good at thinking on your feet.

If that sounds like your kind of thing, then you can check out our guide on the best games like Slay the Spire on mobile to get a feel of what it might play like once it comes out. There’s a fair few games you can choose, from Dimensions of Dreams to Meteorfall: Journey.

A new Legends of Runeterra character concept is being created in a ‘Draw with Riot’ art stream

Riot Games has announced the first ‘Draw with Riot’ art stream is running tonight, creating a new character concept for Legends of Runeterra. The stream follows Runeterra’s principal concept artist, Chris Campbell, as he draws the character live. We’re extremely excited to see the new concept, since Legends of Runeterra’s art is out of this world gorgeous. But we’re also excited because in the notes for Patch 1.2, which dropped a little while back, it was hinted that this livestream might also give us info about future content coming to Legends of Runeterra.

Could this livestream also reveal the concept for the next expansion pack? Or will it reveal a solo character coming to the game? We have absolutely no idea, but the best way of finding out is by settling down to watch the livestream.

For those that don’t know, Riot Games’ card battler, Legends of Runeterra recently came to mobile, launching at the same time as the expansion pack, Rising Tides. It’s wowed a lot of people, especially us – read our Legends of Runeterra review if you want to know why!

Riot also revealed a new roadmap for Legends of Runeterra today, introducing three new game modes: Labs, Gauntlets, and Events. The video also reveals that Runeterra will get a new region expansion every six months, and new cards every two. Full details can be seen below:

It sounds as if ‘Draw with Riot’ is going to be a regular feature from now on, and these streams are a really great way of learning more about how the game’s concept art is created. But since Runeterra’s art is so beautiful, you really won’t hear us complaining.

If you want to catch the stream, it’s just started, and is happening over on Riot Games’ Twitch channel as we speak. For those reading this later, as with most streams, the video will be available for you to watch after the fact.

You can download Legends of Runeterra on Google Play and the App Store, and if you want some help getting started, be sure to check out our Legends of Runeterra tier list and our Legends of Runterra decks guide.

We get a first look at upcoming card battler Total War: Elysium

Creative Assembly has revealed gameplay footage for its card-battler, Total War: Elysium. The famed developer of the Total War series announced the game last year, at the same time as a partnership with NetEase, a prominent network and game services provider in China. The partnership is part of Creative Assembly’s plan to expand into the Chinese market.

Total War: Elysium is a historical deck builder, drawing famous generals and iconic figures into card-based battle. The game takes place in Elysium, a Civ-esque city drawing together the greatest military leaders from throughout history. We’ve seen some of these generals already, including Sun Ren and Cao Cao from the Three Kingdoms period, but others we haven’t seen before. One general wears what appears to be French regency dress, and another clad in furs and armour, could potentially be Boudica. All the heroes  have individual abilities to give them a unique battle advantage.

Creative Assembly also announced a closed beta test for Elysium to go alongside the new reveal, which you can sign up for on the Total War: Elysium website. We don’t currently know when the beta will take place.

However, the trailer gives us an initial look at how the card-battler might play.

[embedded content]

Elysium is the first Total War game made for mobile since Total War Battles: Kingdom, a free-to-play town builder and RTS strategy game. What we’ve seen so far fits with the expectations of a deck builder, but what they do with the number and variety of generals is another matter. Could this be a Total War gacha? Who knows.

But sign up for the beta, and you’ll see for yourself. If you’re looking also for other deck builders on mobile, be sure to check out our list of the best mobile card games.

Legends of Runeterra launches April 30 on mobile

Riot Games has announced that Legends of Runeterra, the upcoming League of Legends card game, will officially launch on mobile on April 30. That’s a simultaneous launch with the PC version, which is just rather lovely. If you’re not sure what this is, it’s a brand new card game by League of Legends creator Riot, who is clearly on a mission to beat Blizzard at its own game. Literally. It draws a lot of inspiration from Hearthstone, you see.

It’s free-to-play and you can earn cards by simply playing or purchasing them from the store. You’ll be able to directly purchase the cards you want, as well rather than rely on whatever you can get out of card packs. The ability to have that much more control over your decks will likely appeal to fans who are tired of bad luck.

Aside from that, though, it’s all very business as usual. You’ll craft a deck out of a wide variety of cards, each of which comes from one of six different regions. Regions behave similarly to classes in Hearthstone, providing a variety of different play styles. You can combine cards from different regions to create your own strategy.

You can also pick a champion, which is a powerful card that you’ll likely build your deck around. There are six champions in total, with each one hailing from one of the different regions available in the game.

Legends of Runeterra is currently available in open beta on PC, and you can still earn a limited-time Moonstruck Poro at launch if you check it out ahead of the full launch. That’s on April 30, when it will launch across PC, iOS, and Android simultaneously. You can pre-register right now on Android via Google Play, but will have to wait until the official launch to grab it on iOS.
