Is AI being used by The Elder Scrolls 6 developer Bethesda Game Studios? Yes, but maybe not in the way you think. Todd Howard chatted about the divisive topic on the Kinda Funny Gamescast, noting that AI is "certainly not a fad." That said, the Starfield and Fallout 4 game director expressed that Bethesda is "being incredibly cautious" and isn't utilizing it at all for creative generation, like making quests or producing art.
Spotted by GamesRadar, Howard discussed how AI is constantly changing and Bethesda sees "it as a tool, like an analyst [to] look at the data in our games." Howard noted this analytical side is where the studio is seeing the upside with AI as "it can help us get better at some big data tasks that just take us a lot of time." That, in turn, lets them get "onto the creative stuff," according to Howard. Once again, he believes in "handcrafted human intention," something he touched upon before in December.

News - EA Sports FC Uses AI For Commentary, EA Confirms
Electronic Arts is using artificial intelligence to help build the commentary system in EA Sports FC 26, including replicating certain player names in commentator Guy Mowbray's voice with his permission. The technology reportedly helps deal with the huge scale of the modern game, but the main match commentary is still recorded by human broadcasters.
"AI has long been part of our development pipeline--from animation to gameplay systems--and continues to support our teams in making better, more responsive football experiences," EA said in a statement talking to BBC Sports. "But when it comes to commentary and content, it's always a collaboration with our talent--not a replacement.”

News - Assassin's Creed Shadows Roadmap Includes Major Update, A Parkour Challenge,
Ubisoft has released its roadmap for Assassin's Creed Shadows through to the end of March, showing off the game's next title update, a parkour challenge for players to compete in, and a release date for the game's DLC on Switch 2.
The game's next title update lands on February 17--that's tomorrow--and will introduce three new additions to the game, all of them significant in their own way. The first is a detailed stats page, which can be accessed from the inventory, which will let you dig into all the stats relating to your loadout at a micro level. If you want to examine exactly how much damage you can do, all the buffs you've assigned and really examine your equipment's cumulative effects, this will make doing so much easier.
Critical hits are also getting a visual upgrade. The enemy health bar flashes on a critcal hit now, and animations are a little "snappier", so you'll have a better sense of how often your weapons are doing huge damage.
