The next major update for Minecraft is out now for Xbox One, PC, VR, and mobile. Dubbed the Better Together update, it adds a number of new features to the popular sandbox title, most notably cross-play support between the different platforms.

With the new update, players on Xbox One, PC, and mobile devices are now able to play together online regardless of what platform they're on. The update will also be released for the Nintendo Switch version to allow cross-play with Nintendo's console, though developer Mojang says that won't be ready until sometime this winter.



While Minecraft will eventually support cross-play between most of the platforms it is available on, it doesn't appear PS4 players will be able to join in on the fun. Sony has been reluctant to allow cross-play between PS4 and other consoles, though Mojang says it is still in discussions with the company about bringing the feature to the PS4 version.

In addition to cross-play, the Better Together update gives all players access to a ton of player-made items on the Marketplace and adds stained glass, fireworks, banners, parrots, and many other new features to the game. The update also allows players to continue their progress in their Realm on a different platform, and they can now share invite links to Realms with other players.

Finally, the Better Together update addresses a long list of bugs--so many that Mojang couldn't list them all in its patch notes. The developer did, however, specify that llamas will now no longer creepily stare at you while you ride them. You can read more about the Better Together update on the Minecraft website.

It's a packed week of releases for Nintendo Switch. Seven new games arrive for the console this week, and there are some very notable titles among the bunch.

Headlining this week's releases is Pokken Tournament DX, an updated port of the Pokemon fighting game. This version includes a handful of new features that weren't available in the Wii U title, such as new Pokemon like Empoleon and Decidueye, a Team Battle mode, and online group matches. Pokken Tournament DX releases on Friday, September 22, but those planning to purchase it digitally will be able to download it tonight from the Eshop beginning at 9 PM PT/12 AM ET.



Also arriving on September 22 is Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2, the well-received Dragon Ball RPG/fighting game. New to the Switch version are some console-exclusive features, such as ad-hoc multiplayer, optional motion controls to perform signature Dragon Ball attacks like the Kamehameha, and two-player multiplayer using a single Joy-Con each. Critic Heidi Kemps called the original release "among the best games to emerge from this beloved franchise" in our Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 review.



This week's other notable titles are SteamWorld Dig 2 and Thimbleweed Park, both of which are available now in the Switch Eshop. SteamWorld Dig 2 is a Metroidvania-style side-scrolling adventure. Players take on the role of a steambot named Dorothy and must use their pickaxe to navigate the game's labyrinthine world and reunite her with a lost companion. Thimbleweed Park, meanwhile, is a point-and-click adventure game from the co-creator of Maniac Mansion. The game features five characters that players can freely switch between and was inspired by television series like The X-Files and Twin Peaks.



Rounding out this week's releases is the latest ACA Neo Geo game, Art of Fighting; the matching puzzle game Soldam: Drop, Connect, Erase; and the Lego Ninjago Movie Video Game. You can see the full list of this week's new Switch titles below.

Japan’s getting a sweet Monster Hunter-themed PS4 Pro



Capcom will release Monster Hunter: World for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on Jan. 26, 2018, the publisher announced today. The game will come to Windows PC at a later unspecified date.

A new trailer for Monster Hunter: World also debuted today during Sony’s pre-Tokyo Game Show 2017 press conference. The TGS trailer shows off new creatures and environments, including the Pukei-Pukei and Nergigante, as well as the Coral Highlands stage and Astera, the base of operations for the Research Commission. Capcom also detailed a Digital Deluxe Edition and physical Collector’s Edition for North America:
