News - The Lord Of The Rings: The War Of The Rohirrim Trailer Goes All-In With War A

Set 183 years before the events of the original film trilogy, The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim is the first Lord of the Rings anime and we finally have a full trailer. The film tells the fate of the legendary King of Rohan, Helm Hammerhand, and how his daughter, Héra led a great resistance against a deadly enemy.

The trailer, which was teased earlier Thursday by Warner Bros., gives Lord of the Rings fans their first look at Héra in action and the mystery of the whereabouts of the rings. Check it out below.

Directed by iconic anime director Kenji Kamiyama, the voice cast includes Brian Cox as Helm Hammerhand and Gaia Wise (A Walk in the Woods) as Héra. They're joined by Luke Pasqualino (Snowpiercer) as Wulf with Miranda Otto reprising her role as Éowyn, Shieldmaiden of Rohan, serving as the tale's narrator.

News - Sauron's Past Will Be Explored In Lord Of The Rings: The Rings Of Power Seaso

One of the biggest differences between The Rings of Power and The Lord of the Rings trilogy is that Sauron (Charlie Vickers) is at the forefront of the Prime Video show's story. Season 1 featured Sauron hiding in plain sight as Halbrand, and now, in Season 2, he will unleash his villainous agenda. Additionally, the second season will give viewers a glimpse at how Sauron became the dark lord of Middle-earth.

Via IGN, The Rings of Power Season 2 will flashback 1,000 years to the fall of Morgoth, the original dark lord of J.R.R. Tolkien's fantasy world. In these scenes, young Sauron will be portrayed by Jack Lowden, and the show will also establish the beginning of his rivalry with Adar (Sam Hazeldine), the primary villain of Season 1. This sequence suggests that the reason why Adar didn't recognize Sauron in Season 1 is because he had a different face during their first meeting.

The video above features a glimpse of young Sauron, while also establishing that the dark lord will be spending a lot of time this season in his new persona: Annatar, the Lord of Gifts. This is another key part of Tolkien's mythos, as Sauron couldn't create the One Ring or the other Rings of Power without the help of the Elven-smith, Celebrimbor (Charles Edwards). Even the Shadow of Mordor and Shadow of War video games have touched upon the history of these two characters.

News - Constance Is A Colorful Combo Of Hollow Knight And Splatoon, And I Dig It

Save for that blissful half-hour of Silksong that I played back in E3 2019, Constance is, so far, the best Hollow Knight-like game I've ever played. It's not exactly the same--Constance takes a page out of Splatoon's book and features a main character that can wield dangerous purple paint and submerge into puddles in order to slink past enemies or obstacles or ascend up walls--but I couldn't help but be reminded of my time spend in Hallownest. My time with the game was unfortunately quite short--I played a 20-minute Gamescom demo--but I adored what I saw of its quirky world and enjoyed how much the various designs of the robotic enemies and assortment of paint-based abilities shook up each combat encounter. Just as Hollow Knight's gameplay emulates the acrobatic dance and frenzied movements of insects, combat in Constance feels like the frenetic flourishes and flicks of a paintbrush as an artist enters the flow state.

Constance's story seems quite interesting but I'm reserving judgment until I see more of it--20 minutes just isn't enough time to get a grasp of the action-adventure game's narrative. In the game, you play as the titular heroine and explore a non-linear interconnected world that's been overtaken with danger. The Constance you're playing as is the figurative representation of the Constance in the real world, an artist. This game represents Constance's mental health journey with each of the six biomes emulating the different aspects of her psyche and personal history.

Celeste remains one of my favorite games of all time, and Constance's story feels like it gives off big Celeste energy. This is most clearly seen in Constance's mechanics, with both platforming segments and combat gauntlets standing in for figurative struggles. Using brush techniques--like sinking into the ground and becoming paint to slide under enemies, or shooting out paint to attack a far-away foe or bounce off a spike, for example--corrupts Constance. If you cool off, the corruption stops but if you use too many of the techniques in a row, Constance becomes corrupted and takes on a negative side effect until she has a chance to meditate at a checkpoint. Obviously, the pressures of burnout and the process of addressing it are more complex than that, but the mechanics capture the gist of the sensation.

News - Gamescom ONL - Mecha Break Gets Action-Packed New Trailer, Closed Beta On Xbo

Mecha Break developer Amazing Seasun Games has revealed that the game will have its first-ever Xbox Series X|S closed beta test from August 25-27. As seen during Gamescom Opening Night Live, a new trailer for the fast-paced mecha multiplayer game also debuted, showing off more of its Zone of the Enders- and Armored Core-inspired gameplay. Exact details on how to gain access to the closed beta haven't been revealed yet, but the developer says that you can stay tuned to its social media platforms for updates.

A closed beta test for Mecha Break was recently held on PC. Amazing Seasun Games says that it received valuable feedback from these sessions, which saw a peak of 51,000 concurrent players on Steam and over 120,000 on the game’s launcher in China.

The game is set in the distant future after a huge cataclysmic event called "The Catastrophe" has all but destroyed Earth and has seen survivors battle each other over control of a dangerous material called Eruptive Inorganic Carbide that emerged following the planet-wide devastation.
