News - Vampire Survivors Studio Is Expanding In A Big Way, Starting With An “Evil
Vampire Survivors developer Poncle Games had some big news to share at the Future Games Show Summer Showcase, starting with the announcement of a new chapter for its hit game. Called Legacy of the Bloodmoon, this new expansion will be released later in the Summer season, and Poncle has described it as an "evil twin" to the previously released Legacy of the Moonspell add-on.
The new DLC adds 10 new characters, 16 new weapons and evolutions, a new extra-large stage, and more music tracks. Legacy of the Moonspell will also be expanded with new content and will be available at a reduced price, and an upcoming patch adds a new stage, characters, weapons, and Darkanas. Rolling out to PC via Steam first, it'll go live for other platforms at a later date, Poncle says.
The other big news was the formation of Survivaton, a new label at Poncle dedicated to its Survivors-like projects, and a Japan branch of the studio. Short for "survive a ton," the label focuses on internal projects built on the foundation of Vampire Survivors, including collaborations like Warhammer 40,000: Survivors. "Each project will aim to introduce major gameplay changes, content expansions, or genre twists exploring ideas substantial enough to stand as their own games," Poncle said.
Lastly, Poncle Japan will oversee local development initiatives and strategic partnerships across the region, serving as a bridge between Poncle's global operations and Japanese players, creators, and industry partners under the guidance of studio head Sawaki Takeyasu.
Since its launch a few years ago, Vampire Survivors has become a massive success story in games. The early-access PC release became a huge hit thanks to its easy-to-learn gameplay and deep systems, growing with new expansions, and even crossing over with popular Konami IP like Contra and Castlevania. Earlier this year, Poncle released Vampire Crawlers, a survivor-like spin on roguelike deckbuilders that was also well received by players and critics.
News - Assassin’s Creed Creator Reveals New Witch Game, Coming Before AC’s Witch
Patrice Desilet, the creator of Assassin's Creed, has announced 1666 Amsterdam at Summer Game Fest. It's his first game in seven years.
1666 Amsterdam is a third-person, dark, story-led action-adventure where you play as Noa the Collector, who has the power of witchcraft to investigate demonic entities during the day before facing them at night.
Interestingly, this means the Assassin's Creed creator has a witch game going head-to-head with Assassin's Creed Hexe, also a witch-focused game.
While there is currently no release window confirmed for 1666 Amsterdam, you will get to play it before Ubisoft's upcoming title, as Panache Digital Games has also dropped a prologue demo of the game on Steam and Epic Games Store, which offers around 30 minutes of gameplay.
The studio's last game was Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey, originally planned as an episodic survival game, though the studio lacked the funds to fulfil that vision.

News - 33-Player Co-Op Raider, 33 Immortals, Will Finally Release In Full Soon
33 Immortals has been available via early access for some time, but if you've been itching to experience the full game, you needn't wait much longer. Announced as part of Summer Game Fest and Day of the Devs, 33 Immortals' 1.0 release arrives on June 10.
That date applies to both the PC versions--across both Steam and Epic Games Store--as well as the Xbox Series X|S version. It existed on Xbox previous as part of the Xbox Game Preview program, with functions similarly to Steam Early Access.
"After over a year of community feedback and optimization during early access, [33 Immortals] 1.0 introduces the complete 33 Immortals experience, including all three fully playable worlds, the long-awaited final-boss encounter, and a variety of new content and improvements throughout the game," Thunder Lotus said in the official announcement.
33 Immortals is a very different game from Thunder Lotus' previous release, Spiritfarer, which was decidedly less violent. In 33 Immortals, you and 32 others battle dangerous bosses, essentially distilling the MMO-raid experience down to just the best moments.
News - God Of War: Laufey Dev Responds To Pizza Company’s Dumb Tweet About New Game
God of War developer Santa Monica Studio has responded to a social media post from Domino's Pizza after the pizza chain's UK account joked about the newly announced God of War: Laufey for being a God of War game without Kratos.
The post from Domino's Pizza UK said, "God of War game with no Kratos = Pepperoni Passion with no pepperoni." The Domino's Pizza UK post was criticized for making fun of the game just because it doesn't feature Kratos, with many replies pointing out the reports of how poorly Domino's is known to treat its workers and how mediocre at best its pizza is.
Santa Monica Studio responded by saying, "ok thanks for the feedback, dominos pizza corporate account."
The Domino's Pizza UK account is known for its spicy posts, and this was just the latest example as the account purposefully posting something hyperbolic and weird to garner attention. It worked, but now people are dunking on Domino's even more than before.
God of War: Laufey tells the story of Fey, the wife of Kratos and mother of Atreus. She died, but lives on in the afterlife of the gods--the Everywhen. The events of the new game are happening concurrently with the story from the 2018 God of War. The game also involves a gelatinous cube played by Jack Quaid.
News - Monopoly Go Is Crossing Over With The Simpsons For A Battle Of The Billionair
A new battle of the billionaires kicks off this week in Monopoly Go, as the game's mustachioed mascot takes on Springfield's sun-blocking tyrant from The Simpsons, Mr. Burns. Scopely has announced a Simpsons crossover in Monopoly Go, which has been created in partnership with the team behind the long-running animated series. Starting June 3 and continuing through July 29, the event will see iconic Springfield locations given a Monopoly Go makeover.
To give you an idea of just how big a deal the crossover is, People Magazine has even produced two covers starring the fictional billionaires, and GameSpot can exclusively reveal them. Both covers feature a few cheeky references to the duo, their wealth, and their attempts to pass themselves off as a regular person who just so happens to have an obscene amount of wealth--not too far removed from our current reality:
If you're a magazine collector and you want to add these to your library, these issues of People Magazine will hit newsstands on June 5. Subscribers should expect to see them in their mailbox starting today.
Players can also expect to see the entire Simpsons family and Mr. Burns in the game, alongside other fan-favorite characters. Some of the new gameplay twists include hidden details, deep-cut references, and Easter eggs. Find yourself in jail, and you can even bribe Chief Wiggum to get out of the joint early.
"Working closely with The Simpsons creative team, our talented game-makers at Scopely set out to do much more than simply place Springfield inside the game; we wanted to build an entirely new shared universe where these iconic characters, stories, and gameplay experiences could cross over," said Victor Diaz-Roig, president of games at Scopely. "Every part of the season was designed with our Tycoons in mind, introducing fresh ways to play the game they love, while opening the doors for Simpsons fans to step into Monopoly Go for the very first time."
Scopely says that Monopoly Go will feature interconnected gameplay and original Simpsons narratives unfolding across seasonal maps, animated sequences, and sets. Narrative-driven episodes are at the heart of the crossover, as Simpsons-inspired storylines will kick off every two weeks inside of Monopoly Go. From Homer-triggered nuclear meltdowns to Bart and Lisa disappearing inside Krustyland, each episode will be accompanied by collectibles, mini-games, and more than 50 Simpsons-themed Chance Cards.
The crossover will start with the debut of a Simpsons short, written and produced by The Simpsons team. The short sets the stage for the collaboration's narrative, as it sees Mr. Monopoly (voiced by Will Ferrell) go head-to-head with Mr. Burns, in a rivalry that has been brewing for decades. This isn't the first time that The Simpsons have headlined a mobile game--remember The Simpsons: Tapped Out?-- and last year, Springfield's favorite family took over Fortnite for an entire season.
