Requirements to Jailbreak your PS3! Read this first! - xSicKx - 02-23-2015 Many of you come on here, and state, "I would like to jailbreak my Playstation 3 system, what do I need to do?" First off, check your firmware version. This can be done by navigating in the XMB to settings>system settings>system information. The latest firmware as of now (April 8, 2013) is 4.66. In order for your Ps3 to be jailbroken, you MUST be on OFW (Official FirmWare) 3.55 or lower (3.50, 3.41, etc.) Super-slims cannot be jailbroken, and the system has to have once been on version 3.55. As for slims, the only noted unjailbrokable ones are the CECH-3001A. If you are not on version 3.55 or lower, there's still hope. You may seek into downgrading your system. This is done by purchasing an E3 Flasher, which will downgrade upon using. Some CECH250x models come out of the box on 3.61.
