<p>According to a report from <a class="external" href="https://www.cnbc.com/2020/06/12/att-seeks-sale-for-warner-gaming-unit-could-fetch-4-billion.html">CNBC</a>, AT&T wants to sell its Warner Bros. gaming division for “about” $4 billion, to pay off a huge debt, valued at almost $200 billion.</p>
<p>The interested buyers at the moment supposedly include Take-Two Interactive, Electronic Arts, and Activision-Blizzard. This would be a <em>huge</em> sale, so obviously not every company will be lining up.</p>
<p>Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment owns and operates studios like TT Games (Lego series), Rocksteady (<strong><a href="http://www.nintendolife.com/games/wiiu/batman_arkham_origins">Batman Arkham</a></strong> series), NetherRealm (<strong><a href="http://www.nintendolife.com/games/nintendo-switch/mortal_kombat_11">Mortal Kombat 11</a></strong>), and 5th Cell (<strong><a href="http://www.nintendolife.com/games/ds/scribblenauts">Scribblenauts</a></strong>).</p>
<p>Any sale that was approved would <em>not</em> necessarily give rights to IP like Batman and Harry Potter – instead, there would likely be a “commercial licensing agreement” – to ensure AT&T continues to earn revenue.</p>
<p>Two sources have told <a class="external" href="https://venturebeat.com/2020/06/13/att-is-offering-warner-bros-game-division-for-sale/">GamesBeat</a> that the report is correct in terms of the division being up for sale but according to CNBC no deal is assured or imminent. <em>If anything goes ahead, we’ll be sure to let you know.</em></p>
