<p>Looking ahead at Nintendo’s future release schedule, there are only so many games to anticipate, and right now we know <em>very little</em> about each one. The major Switch exclusives in development at the moment include <strong><a href="https://www.nintendolife.com/games/nintendo-switch/bayonetta_3">Bayonetta 3</a></strong>, <strong><a href="https://www.nintendolife.com/games/nintendo-switch/metroid_prime_4">Metroid Prime 4</a></strong>, and of course, a sequel to <strong><a href="https://www.nintendolife.com/games/nintendo-switch/legend_of_zelda_breath_of_the_wild">The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild</a></strong>.</p>
<p>Apart from this, there are rumours the company will <a href="https://www.nintendolife.com/news/2020/03/nintendo_to_remaster_most_of_super_mariors_35-year_catalogue_for_switch_in_2020_new_report_says">remaster “most of Super Mario’s 35-year back catalogue” on the Switch</a>, more <a href="https://www.nintendolife.com/news/2019/01/rumour_metroid_prime_trilogy_for_nintendo_switch_is_ready_to_be_released">rumours about it re-releasing</a> the <strong><a href="https://www.nintendolife.com/games/wii/metroid_prime_trilogy">Metroid Prime Trilogy</a></strong>, and this week the company confirmed <strong><a href="https://www.nintendolife.com/games/wiiu/pikmin_3">Pikmin 3</a></strong> Deluxe was <a href="https://www.nintendolife.com/news/2020/08/pikmin_3_deluxe_officially_announced_for_switch_includes_all_dlc_and_new_content">en route to Switch</a>. Still not enough? Well, how about some new 2D action games?</p>

<p>The tweet above reveals Nintendo is currently seeking level designers to develop new 2D action games. As noted, applicants need to be able to create “specifications for objects placed in game courses” at Nintendo’s Tokyo office – there’s also mention of the Kyoto office. As can be seen, the tweet features screens from <strong><a href="https://www.nintendolife.com/games/nintendo-switch/yoshis_crafted_world">Yoshi’s Crafted World</a></strong>, <strong><a href="https://www.nintendolife.com/games/nintendo-switch/new_super_mario_bros_u_deluxe">NSMB. U Deluxe</a></strong> and <strong><a href="https://www.nintendolife.com/games/nintendo-switch/super_mario_maker_2">Super Mario Maker 2</a></strong>. On the same Nintendo webpage, there’s an application looking for level designers to work on new 3D action games.</p>
<p>While any new 2D action game <em>could</em> be based on completely new IP, this job post has already got many Nintendo fans on social media hoping for a side-scrolling <strong><a href="//www.nintendolife.com/games/gba/metroid_fusion">Metroid</a></strong> game. At the start of this year, <a href="https://www.nintendolife.com/news/2020/01/rumour_prolific_leaker_says_well_get_paper_mario_and_a_2d_metroid_this_year">alongside the Paper Mario Switch rumours</a>, there was mention of a classic Game Boy Advance Metroid title potentially returning.</p>
