Monster Hunter Rise wirebugs – how do they work?

The wirebug is a brand new feature in Monster Hunter Rise that helps you out in all sorts of situations. You use this nifty little tool to traverse areas with ease, collect items, and perform powerful silkbind attacks. Although the wirebug basics are easy to grasp, you need to master them to get through tough situations.

Our Monster Hunter Rise wirebug guide will run you through the basic controls for travel and battle, as well as provide some helpful hints, tips, and tricks, so you can become a master in no time.

For all weapon classes other than the bow, heavy bow gun, and light bow gun, ZL is the button you need to press to activate the wirebug – at least in most cases. For players who wield the bow, heavy bow gun, and light bow gun, you need to press R while your weapon is unsheathed to activate Silkbind attacks with the wirebug.

Using your wirebug consumes a gauge that appears at the bottom of the screen, so make sure you keep an eye on it! This gauge refills over time, and you can expand it by picking up a wild Endemic Life Wirebug.
