It's been 21 years since School of Rock premiered and eventually spawned a television spin-off and Broadway musical hit, but is it time for a sequel? Original star Jack Black thinks so. Mike White, the original writer for the movie, has been busy scripting HBO's White Lotus series, so it may be a while before he can head back to the halls of Horace Green prep school.
Still, the film has developed a huge fanbase and helped usher in an era of musical comedy franchises like Pitch Perfect. Talking to JOE, Black says he's ready for a sequel and already has an idea for the title, which is almost perfect.
"I wish there’d be a School of Rock 2 Electric Boogaloo," he said. "I'm ready."
