Nintendo Labo might not have been quite as successful in terms of sales as certain other first-party releases on the Switch, but it has certainly won plenty of awards since the original kits were launched in April last year.

Since then, it’s taken home two BAFTA awards and a GDC innovation award. Now, at the 2019 Games for Change Awards, it has received the Game of the Year Award. Ubisoft has also been recognised with an industry leadership award and GRIS was acknowledged for having the best gameplay. Below is the full list of winners, courtesy of Gamasutra:

Game of the Year Award – Nintendo Labo

Most Innovative Game – Tendar

Best Gameplay – GRIS

Most Significant Impact – Unicef Kid Power

Best Learning Game – Assassin’s Creed Discovery Tour

Best Student Game – Prism

Best XR For Change Experience – Homestay

People’s Choice Award Winner – Assassin’s Creed Discovery Tour

Industry Leadership Award – Ubisoft

Vanguard Award – Lindsay Grace

Nintendo most recently added the VR Kit to the Labo line and has also released multiple Toy-Con VR Goggles updates for existing games.

In June last year, Reggie Fils-Aimé said Labo had “absolutely” met Nintendo’s expectations and would continue to drive user engagement with the product, much like it did with Brain Age on the DS and Wii Fit on the Wii.

Congratulations to Nintendo and all the other winners.
