Destiny 2's Season of Opulence kicks off on Tuesday, June 4, marking the final new content under its current annual pass subscription. What happens in Destiny 2 after that? There's been a lot of speculation from players, but it looks like we're about to find out.
On Twitter, Bungie teased what is seemingly a livestream set to take place at 10 AM PT on Thursday, June 6, to discuss "the next chapter of Destiny 2." Let the speculation begin, since we have no idea what that next chapter might be.
It's been clear to Destiny 2 players keeping up with the annual pass--the second since the release of Destiny 2--that Bungie is building its story in a particular direction. The endgame content that came with the Forsaken expansion, concerning the besieged Dreaming City, has slowly unfolded over the last two seasons, hinting that secret enemies are executing plans of which we've only seen the edges and margins. That conflict might come to a head in the Season of Opulence, but that seems unlikely since the next content drop returns players to the Leviathan, the scene of Destiny 2's first raid, and concerns a different group of characters.
The Dreaming City situation doesn't seem primed to wrap up anytime soon, and that suggests there's more content coming for Destiny 2 before the release of the seemingly inevitable Destiny 3. A third year of Destiny 2 content is in line with what a lot of players have been expecting, and it would make sense for Bungie to hold back a new Destiny title to correspond with the start of a new console generation.
The timing of the announcement also seems remarkable. Breaking with the usual pattern, Bungie is releasing Destiny 2's new raid, Crown of Sorrows, with the start of the Season of Opulence, rather than waiting a few days for players to gear up for it. Bungie's announcement about Destiny 2's future takes place two days later, which would give the game's top raid teams all the time they'll need to finish Crown of Sorrows--and discover whatever story implications it presents. Fans on Reddit are already expecting that whatever happens on the Crown of Sorrows will point players back to the Dreadnaught, a Destiny 1 location that leaks and speculation have suggested would be the setting for the game's next expansion.
It's also worth remembering that the Season of Opulence marks the last of the announced Destiny 2 content from before Bungie's split with publisher Activision. Whatever comes next, it'll be the first Destiny content Bungie creates purely on its own. With the way Destiny's story has been going of late, suggesting the approach of more evil aliens and the possibility that some heroes could fall to darkness, there's a lot the developer could explore.
Review: Among the Sleep: Enhanced Edition – Has Some Growing Up To Do
If games like Firewatch and Gone Home typify what has come to be known as the ‘walking simulator,’ then Among the Sleep is more of a ‘tottering simulator’. You could take that as a reference to its implausibly youthful protagonist, but it just as easily applies to the game’s uneven tone and shaky gameplay. You could probably describe Among the Sleep as a first-person horror game, but that wouldn’t be particularly helpful. That might conjure images of Outlast or Resident Evil 7, and Krillbite Studio’s effort is nowhere near as scary or as absorbing as those two modern gems.
Still, the game brings with it a very unique perspective. You play the part of a burbling toddler on the day of their second birthday. Your banal existence is soon upended as seemingly supernatural events begin to unfold, with a ghostly menace pulling you and your talking teddy companion into a warped nightmare world.
It’s an evocative setting alright, as ostensibly benign toys and items of furniture become darkly suggestive props – both through their sheer scale and through some clever tricks of light and perspective. All the while there’s the nagging question of whether you truly are being stalked through this shadowy netherworld, or if it’s all a product of your youthful imagination. Sadly, the freshness of Among the Sleep’s setting is just about where the good news ends. The trouble is that the game doesn’t really amount to much of anything; it isn’t scary, it isn’t especially fun to play, and it doesn’t offer up much of a challenge.
You essentially stumble around its simple environments, collecting bric-a-brac and solving achingly simple physics puzzles. It feels like so much busywork to be getting on with while the developer tells its story. At various points the tone will shift to something altogether more malevolent, but it doesn’t result in much other than a darker palette and moodier music. Unfortunately, too, the more ‘out there’ and supernatural the tone gets, the less distinctive and interesting it feels.
The controls for your toddler are very convincing – which is to say they’re clumsy, slow, and rather trying of your patience. It’s a believable touch that our young hero moves faster when crawling than when standing, but it’s no more satisfying a mechanic for that fact; not when you have to stand in order to interact with items and give your teddy a hug (which acts as a not-particularly-bright lamp).
Technically, Among the Sleep is adequate at best. It runs reasonably well, and everything’s fairly clear and solid. But there’s something about its simple, chunky art style added to the inevitable Switch visual downgrade (this is been out for several years on PC and console) that robs the game of some of its atmosphere. And without said atmosphere, Among the Sleep really isn’t left with much to go on. It’s a walking simulator in which it’s not particularly fun to walk, and a horror game that isn’t especially horrific.
The developer deserves a fair amount of praise for attempting something new with the identity of its protagonist, but Among the Sleep feels like it has a lot of growing to do before it becomes a worthwhile purchase on Switch.
Conclusion
Among the Sleep benefits from a fresh setting and the odd spooky set-piece, but it’s let down by disappointingly generic puzzles and stilted gameplay. It takes a number of baby steps in the direction of Firewatch and Gone Home, but it’s got a lot of growing up to do before it deserves to be mentioned in the same breath.
Here’s Your First Look At The VR Mode In Super Smash Bros. Ultimate
The latest update for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is now available. Outside of the main patches, this is quite possibly one of the most exciting updates the game has received so far. Version 3.1.0 allows you to view and battle in a brand-new VR mode, provided you have access to the Nintendo Labo Toy-Con Goggles.
To play this offline mode, all you have to do is visit the ‘Games & More’ section in the Ultimate menu and then click on the VR Goggles icon. In this mode, you can also view CPU fights – which is great if you would prefer to take in the sights and sounds of each stage up close.
Offline
You can use the Toy-Con VR Goggles to enjoy Smash in VR mode via the Games & More menu.
VR mode is a single-player experience only.
The Toy-Con VR Goggles are sold separately as part of the Nintendo Labo Toy-Con 04: VR Kit or the Nintendo Labo Toy-Con 04: VR Kit – Starter Set + Blaster.
Surprisingly, this isn’t the only feature added to Ultimate in Version 3.1.0. You can now send out your amiibo collection on an adventure to train it up. To play this, you’ll need to be online and you’ll need to keep a close on the game to ensure the Switch doesn’t go to sleep and end the session.
Online
FPs can be used in Battle Arenas.
An option to send amiibo out on journeys has been added, through which FPs go on a journey to train via the internet. You can find it via Games & More → amiibo → Send on a Journey.
Some of the preferred rules for Quickplay battles have been adjusted.
General
Game balance adjustments have been made.
Several issues have been fixed to improve gameplay experience.

Measles and mumps? Data sharing on the cloud to improve public health
As once forgotten diseases start to reappear, state and local government agencies are looking to find new ways to ensure positive health outcomes for their citizens. I had a conversation with Steve and Claire Murchie at Envision Technology Partners. Their WebIZ immunization registry system is leveraging new technologies to help state and local government combat the recent outbreaks of diseases like mumps, measles, and other preventable illnesses.
Steve and Claire, recent measles outbreaks have reignited focus on the importance of immunizations so I’m hoping you can provide an update regarding what state and local governments are doing to ensure proper tracking of children’s vaccinations.
Yes, measles is a big issue – already in early April 2019 we have exceeded the number of cases nationwide for all of 2018. But it’s also mumps, pertussis and even hepatitis A, which has killed more than 40 people in one state alone. These are all vaccine-preventable diseases, which points the cause to less vaccine acceptance. The reasons for that are complex, but information is the best tool to combat vaccine hesitancy, and immunization information systems (IIS) are the primary tool used to track, measure and understand vaccination patterns at a public health level.
I understand health agencies in Delaware and Philadelphia are embarking on immunization data sharing that has the potential to improve immunization compliance and in turn diseases outbreak outcomes. Please tell us about that.
Due to various laws in the US, we don’t have a national registry of immunizations, so responsibility is passed to the state or local jurisdictions to run their own IIS. Until recently, there hasn’t been a clear legal and technology mechanism to facilitate sharing of data between two independent jurisdictions. For the past several years, though, there has been a project sponsored by the Office of the National Coordinator in the Department of Health and Human Services to kickstart this sharing of immunization data, allowing states to maintain a more comprehensive view of patient protection within their populations. ONC’s contribution has included both standardization of the data use agreements between jurisdictions, and they have also stood up a messaging hub which supports the actual data integration.
While the pilot has been open to all public health jurisdictions, the first to complete a production connection were the State of Delaware and the City of Philadelphia. Both happen to use our IIS platform – WebIZ – but we’re actively trying to include some other neighboring jurisdictions as well. The project is described in this March 2019 issue of AIRA’s (American Immunization Registry Association) SnapShots newsletter.
So, Envision’s WebIZ solution is the backbone of this data sharing success. Please tell us more about that solution and where it’s implemented.
WebIZ is used in twenty state, local and territorial jurisdictions overseen by the Centers for Disease Control. We’re a standardized, commercial-off-the-shelf solution that is highly configurable but managed as a single code base. As a result, we can deliver software quickly and reliably without a lot of site-specific customization. And our customers benefit by receiving all enhancements which are paid for by any other customer, which leverages their investment dollars. Like many state and local government agencies, public health has faced years of diminished budgets, so that is a real benefit to them.
Some of the WebIZ implementations are on the Azure Government Cloud. Why are governments choosing that option, and what are the benefits?
State IT budgets are also under pressure, so there is both a movement away from home-grown IIS applications to vendor-supplied solutions, as well as increased support for cloud-based solutions. We were an early adopter of the Azure Government Cloud and have transitioned most of our larger sites over to it. We include hosting as a requirement, and it actually makes our job a lot easier. IIS tend to have a lot of moving parts – web interface, messaging interface, flat file and vital records imports – so it helps if we can have unfettered access to help diagnose problems that may arise. Managing the application infrastructure – which is mostly IaaS today, but starting to take on more PaaS flavors – also means that we have more control over operational upgrades for performance, scalability and security.
Please tell us about innovations in the immunization registry market. With AI being the center of so much attention, is there anything you’re doing to utilize AI to improve immunization registration?
If there is any silver lining to the recent outbreaks, it’s that public health agencies are spending more time slicing and dicing their data in order to learn more about their populations. We’ve been receiving many requests for assistance creating data extracts, and we’ve been adding functionality to make it easier for customers to analyze their own data, but there is a lot of variability in the technical resources available to immunization programs. So, we’ve been looking at tools like Power BI to increase the options available to less-technical users, while expanding the power of more advanced analytics through machine learning and related features. Some of the machine learning features have potential in our ongoing challenges with patient-matching, which plagues most large-population, multi-contributor databases.

Whether you’re just starting out, looking for something new, or just seeing what’s out there, the Gamasutra Job Board is the place where game developers move ahead in their careers.
Gamasutra’s Job Board is the most diverse, most active, and most established board of its kind in the video game industry, serving companies of all sizes, from indie to triple-A.
Video: A Dream Daddy dev’s survival guide for terminally online indies
In this 2019 GDC session, indie dev Leighton Gray talks about how to weather success (and failure) by cultivating a healthier relationship with the internet based on her experience releasing Dream Daddy, the charming dad dating sim she co-created and shipped in 2017.
This is a great talk for indies to watch because, as Gray points out, a modern game developer’s biggest asset and most towering obstacle is probably the internet.
And especially as an indie, you don’t have the luxury of just logging off when things get overwhelming; in her talk, Gray shares what she learned about how to avoid being overwhelmed, and what to do to stay sane while making games in a post-internet world.
In addition to this presentation, the GDC Vault and its accompanying YouTube channel offers numerous other free videos, audio recordings, and slides from many of the recent Game Developers Conference events, and the service offers even more members-only content for GDC Vault subscribers.
Those who purchased All Access passes to recent events like GDC or VRDC already have full access to GDC Vault, and interested parties can apply for the individual subscription via a GDC Vault subscription page. Group subscriptions are also available: game-related schools and development studios who sign up for GDC Vault Studio Subscriptions can receive access for their entire office or company by contacting staff via the GDC Vault group subscription page. Finally, current subscribers with access issues can contact GDC Vault technical support.

This week at Bungie, we revealed Season of Opulence.
What began with a notion of secrets has evolved into a treasure hunt. On the journey of our creative process, we arrived at a new experience that is more about discovery than mystery. Calus has issued an imperial summons. Your invitation to plunder the vaults aboard his Leviathan has arrived. Season of Opulence does have secrets for you to discover—Destiny always does.
Here is a preview of what adventures await.
Ready to play? These are the dates you should save!
This is the last weekly update before the new Season starts. Let’s dig in and cover the final details before the games begin.
Choose Wisely
Calus would see you grow fat from strength. During Season of Opulence, he will be granting players the Chalice of Opulence, which serves as players’ gateway to treasure. Players who emerge victorious in the Menagerie will use the Chalice to serve up an offering of runes in exchange for the weapons and gear they choose from the selection of items available. The treasure you find will be limited at first, but over time you’ll be able to upgrade the Chalice to acquire more plentiful and powerful rewards.
Each player will claim their Chalice at the start of the Season through an introductory quest line. From there, it can be shared between different Guardians on the same account.
How does it work?
Earn runes to slot on your Chalice through the following:
Completing weekly bounties
Opening up the weekly chests on the new Nessus Barge
Using a consumable that will reward you a rune after a strike, Crucible, or Gambit completion
The same consumable will also give other players in your fireteam a chance to earn an additional rune
Slot the runes into your Chalice before you enter the Menagerie
Play the Menagerie to earn your rewards
Completing the Menagerie will award you the gear you chose with your rune selections
Each rune affects what you receive and some of its properties, depending on how you slot them
It’s upgradable!
You will have a host of new Triumphs and bounties to complete that will reward a new currency called Imperials. Using these Imperials, you can upgrade your Chalice to acquire a variety of perks with a wide range of effects, from giving you more powerful rewards per week to allowing you to choose the specific gun and Masterwork stat you get from the Menagerie!
You can earn Imperials several ways:
Completing weekly bounties
Completing certain Triumphs
Using special consumables that allows for Imperial acquisition
Chalice upgrades that allow you to earn Imperials through playlist activities
You choose which upgrades you unlock first!
Unlock additional rune slots to allow more control of an item’s specialization
Upgrade it so you earn more runes, or more rune variety
Upgrade to allow for additional powerful rewards from the Menagerie
So, for example, if you wanted to earn a random roll of a “Beloved” Sniper Rifle with Handling as the Masterwork trait, you would use a Rune of Jubilation, any red rune, and any purple rune. This rune configuration is your freebie. We’re excited for the community to come together and uncover combinations for each Menagerie reward.
We hope this gives you a better idea of how you’ll earn weapons and armor during Season of Opulence. You will still have to grind to get that perfect roll, but we have given you the option to target the item that you want to optimize and Masterwork.
Pinnacle Weapons and More
Last week, we promised we would share the details on the new pinnacle weapons coming in Season of Opulence as well as some other weapons we are buffing. Here is the Destiny Dev Team to give you one last preview before show time.
Destiny Dev Team: As with Season of the Drifter, we have another three pinnacle weapons to earn in Season of Opulence.
Wendigo-GL3’s unique perk is “Explosive Light—Picking up an Orb of Light increases the next grenade’s blast radius and damage”
Unlike most drum Grenade Launchers, Wendigo-GL3 comes with Blinding Grenades as its magazine option for some added utility to shut down teleporting Taken Captains or that Cabal Gladiator about to get in your face
You can carry up to six grenades enhanced by Explosive Light, so be sure to not let any Orbs of Light slip through your fingers when you’ve got this weapon equipped
Revoker’s unique perk is “Reversal of Fortune—Missing a shot returns the bullet to the magazine after a short duration”
Even the greatest of snipers is not a perfect sharpshooter, and you miss every shot you don’t take
Revoker was built with the mindset that you should always go for it, but keep in mind that Reversal of Fortune can only return a single bullet at a time
Along with its unique perk, this sniper has a custom low zoom Ambush SLH25 scope and Snapshot for those close quarters battles
Acquiring Revoker will not require reaching Fabled rank in Competitive
Players will need to earn 3500 total Glory points
You do not lose progress when losing a match
Gambit—Hush (Solar Precision Combat Bow)
Hush’s unique perk is “Archer’s Gambit—Hipfire precision hits grant a massive draw speed bonus for a short duration”
This weapon is for those who would proclaim mastery with the Combat Bow
Archer’s Gambit pays out significantly better than Archer’s Tempo, but it’s going to take a more skilled hand to get the most out of it
Make those shots count
We also have a few weapons and archetypes getting some tuning to make them more effective. Contrary to a popular meme, we will be buffing Fusion Rifles this season.
Fusion Rifles
Non-Exotic Fusion Rifles
Damage increased against PvE combatants
High-Impact increased by 30%
Precision increased by 44%
Adaptive increased by 44%
Rapid-Fire increased by 47%
While some of the Exotic Fusion Rifles (Telesto, Jötunn, Merciless) did receive minor adjustments due to inheriting from their Legendary counterparts, they’re minor increases, under 5% each. This change was done to move Legendary Fusion Rifles a little closer to the Exotics as the gap between them was quite large, at least in PvE.
Sturm and Drang
Storm and Stress max overcharge rounds increased to 99
“Sturm Overcharge” buff text now displays the number of overcharge rounds
Overcharge damage increased by 100% in PvE
Sturm and Drang were weapons that lost a bit of their place in PvE once Forsaken hit. Not being able to carry around a special weapon hurts your output, so Sturm fell to the wayside. With these changes, along with a new version of Drang coming out in the Season of Opulence, we hope that it has some time to shine again.
Swords
Ammo capacity increased to a max of 70
Starting ammo increased by 10
Black Talon
Ground and aerial projectile ammo cost increased from 3 to 4
Adaptive Frame
Ground uppercut ammo cost increased from 3 to 4
Aggressive Frame
Now lunge at target with their aerial light attack
Light attack consolidated into a single damage event
Slam attack consolidated into a single damage event
Slam attack ammo cost increased from 3 to 4
Lightweight Frame
Damage tuning
Ground light attack increased by 17%
Aerial light attack decreased by 21%
Ground dash attack increased by 87%
Aerial dash attack increased by 78%
No ammo aerial light attack decreased by 49%
All other no ammo attacks decreased by 15%
Ground dash attack ammo cost increased from 2 to 3
Swords are getting some adjustments. We increased ammo capacity, but also increased the cost of heavy attacks proportionally to encourage mixing in light attacks to get the most out of them instead of just repeatedly using heavy attacks. Also, much like how Drang will show up in a new form for the Season of Opulence, the Lightweight and Aggressive swords are getting the same treatment.
Raiders of the Lost Vault
Last week, we put out an update on the upcoming World First raid race starting on June 4. You can also check out our official World First rules. At the end of race, six players will earn themselves a championship belt. Here is a work-in-progress preview of what it’s going to look like.
Are you an avid raider, but don’t think you can finish first? There are still some other enticing rewards available for those brave enough to tackle the raid soon after launch. If you are able to defeat the final encounter in the first 24 hours, you will receive the “Heavy is the Crown” emblem.
Don’t think you have it in you to finish in the first day? You still have time to commemorate your achievement if you can best the Crown of Sorrow raid before the weekly reset on 6/11. Do that, and you will unlock the ability to purchase this exclusive Bungie Rewards jacket.
Even if you don’t enjoy raiding, we will have some more cool stuff for you on the Bungie store starting on 6/4
Patch Note Preview
Next week, Season of Opulence will go live. Update 2.5.0 is the ship carrying it to your platform of choice. We wanted to take this final moment to give you one last preview of some of the changes you can expect to see in the full patch notes on June 4.
Fixed an issue where the Heroic version of Zero Hour would only be available on the first character to complete the activity on each account
The Luxurious Toast emote now allows players to sit for as long as they desire
Players can no longer win Crucible matches by getting kills after the timer has expired
Fixed an issue where the action for applying shaders, ornaments, holograms, or using consumables was getting cancelled and not applying on the first attempt
There are still actions that will cancel the apply function, such as hitting the “Preview” button, exiting Inventory early, letting up on the “Apply” button too early, or completely moving the cursor off of the item being applied
Players with multiple Radiant Matrix materials in their inventory will now have them removed when “Returning to Ada-1” on the appropriate weapon frame quest step
If players have Radiant Matrix materials sitting with the Postmaster, they will need to pull them out before speaking with Ada-1
Hot Pursuit
One more notable upgrade you’ll notice as Season of Opulence begins will be your Pursuits tab.
The Pursuits menu will be moved from your Inventory to the Director. With this update, you’ll be able to switch between Pursuits and the Director overview in one move. With the objectives displayed in the new tab, it should be easier than ever for you to plan your gameplay session and knock out some bounties more efficiently. We also added some filters to give you a “quests only” and “bounties only” view, so you can separate limited-time pursuits from long-term pursuits. We also increased the pursuits inventory size from 50 to 63 to give you more room to hoard some bounties.
At Your Service
The Player Support Team will be on hand during next week’s launch. If things get weird, let them know on the #Help forum.
This is their report.
Destiny 2 Update 2.5.0.1
Next Tuesday, June 4, the 2.5.0.1 update will be released to players in Destiny 2. This update marks the beginning of Season of Opulence, and is required in order to access Destiny 2 once it has been deployed. Listed below is the release timeline for this update.
Tuesday, June 4:
7 AM PDT (1400 UTC): Destiny 2 maintenance will begin.
8 AM PDT (1500 UTC): Destiny 2 and Companion features will be taken offline. Destiny 2 Update 2.5.0.1 will begin rolling out across all platforms and regions.*
10 AM PDT (1700 UTC): Maintenance will conclude. Destiny 2 and Companion features will be back online. Season of Opulence will begin.
*Players on console who are taking an abnormally long time to receive this update should try updating manually. Follow the links below for instructions on how to accomplish this:
Players who still do not see this update may wish to try power cycling their console hardware. To do this, players should:
Completely power down the console. Ensure that the device is not in rest mode.
Unplug the console from its power source.
Wait 5 minutes.
Plug back in and try again.
If the update is available, it should begin downloading automatically after power cycling the console hardware. If not, players may wish to try manually checking for this update once more before resorting to another power cycle.
During this same window, we will also be conducting backend maintenance for Destiny 1. For live updates during this deployment window, players should follow @BungieHelp on Twitter or monitor our support feed at help.bungie.net.
Crown of Sorrow Raid World First Race
Last week at Bungie, we promised that we’d share more information about how players can make sure they are at the starting line for the Crown of Sorrow raid at 4 PM PDT on Tuesday, June 4. Here’s what you need to know:
As called out last week, players must complete the day one quest for Season of Opulence in order to access the Crown of Sorrow raid once it unlocks at 4 PM PDT.
In game, this quest will be granted to players as “An Imperial Summons,” and will conclude as “The Invitation.”
As players complete this quest, they will be awarded rare gear that will bring them up to 690 Power.
We’d also like to remind all World First contenders that players who join in progress during the Crown of Sorrow raid’s first encounter will spawn in dead outside of the encounter space. To mitigate this issue, all fireteam members must join up in Orbit prior to launching the Crown of Sorrow raid activity.
Living in Infamy
Players should be aware that turning in completed Gambit or Gambit Prime bounties from Season of the Drifter after Season of Opulence begins will result in the player’s next Infamy rank up granting rewards capped at 700 Power.
To mitigate this, players are encouraged to turn in all completed bounties before Season of Opulence begins. For more information, players should see the “Cleaning House” sections of the following blog posts:
Movies
Listen, we got the movies. They are ready to go below. As always, if you win, make sure your player name is in the description of the video so we can get you your emblem. Let’s do this.
Movie of the Week: TR3-VR Perfected
Honorable Mention: Mirror
Only five more sleeps until Season of Opulence. Assuming you have a healthy sleep schedule. We hope you do. It’s really important for your health.
If you’re hungry for new rewards to add to your collection, here’s some concept art to hold you over until next Tuesday.

We hope to see you there—for all of it. Next week will be all about new beginnings. It wouldn’t be the same without you.
E3 2019: Dying Light 2 -- What We Know And What We Want
Dying Light 2 was announced at E3 2018. The first game was a blast, so the news that a sequel was on the way was received warmly by many. One year on, we're yet to hear too much more about the second game in the series. However, with E3 2019 just around the corner, we're bound for more Dying Light 2 news. With that in mind, let's take a look at what we do know, and what we'd like to see this June.
What We Know So Far
Developer Techland revealed last year that Dying Light 2 is set 15 years after the events of Dying Light, in a "modern dark age." Humanity has been devastated in the war against the Infected, and now surviving factions of human beings are vying for control of what may be the last city on earth. How you interact with those factions and whom you choose to align yourself with will have considerable long-term impacts on the physical world around you (like in the image below, which shows the same city district after making two different decisions). Of course, you'll be doing all this while battling hordes of zombies, too.
Dying Light 2 will also be much larger than the original game; the city you inhabit is four times the size of all the levels in Dying Light. Like in that title, parkour plays a large role in getting around (and staying alive).
A release date has not been announced for Dying Light 2--all we know is that it's coming to PS4, Xbox One, and PC in 2019.
What's Confirmed For E3?
Techland has confirmed it's bringing Dying Light 2 to E3 2019, though it hasn't offered much in the way of clues. "We can't wait to show you the latest look at our most ambitious project to date," it said in a tweet. The game was announced on Microsoft's stage last year, so it's possible it could end up being shown off there again. Microsoft's E3 2019 press conference starts on June 9 at 1 PM PT / 4 PM ET / 9 PM BST (6 AM AET on June 10).
What We Hope To See At E3
It's been over four years since the first game launched for PS4, Xbox One, and PC, so we're thirsty for more from Dying Light's universe. Given we've seen little of the game since its reveal a year ago, more gameplay footage is a must. We'd also like more detail on the world-shifting mechanic Techland has previously spoken about. The differences look dramatic, but how much nuance does a system like that contain? And how much will it really affect your playing experience?
Further, we'd love to hear more about these multiplayer "surprises." If it's not battle royale, what is it? Is it standard deathmatch-type games? A shared open world? Only time will tell.
Of course, the biggest question on fans'--and our--lips is when will we get to play Dying Light 2? Techland has been hit with layoffs in recent months, though the company says development of Dying Light 2 is not affected. If that's the case, the game should still be on course for its 2019 release--just tell us when, Techland!
