News - Destiny 2 Is Getting Last Content Update Soon As Bungie Moves Onto Its Next B
Nearly nine years after its release, live service support for Destiny 2 is coming to an end. Bungie has announced that it plans to release the last content update for the online shooter on June 9, 2026.
In a blog post, Bungie explained that after the game's last big expansion, The Final Shape, it felt that it had reached time on the stories it wanted to tell with Destiny 2. Content for Destiny 2 had been trickling in at a slower pace after Bungie focused more on releasing its extraction shooter, Marathon, with more time now being spent on determining what the studio's next game will be.
"As our focus turns towards a new beginning for Bungie, we will begin work incubating our next games," the post reads. "To that end, on June 9, 2026, we will release the final live-service content update for Destiny 2 to begin that new journey as a studio."
Bungie has reassured fans that Destiny 2 won't be going offline, with the studio planning to continue supporting it to ensure it remains playable and welcoming to new and old players alike. The blog post did not specify if previously vaulted content would be returning, however.
Bungie's latest title, the PS5 and PC shooter Marathon, is being significantly changed soon with the introduction of a PvE mode, in an attempt to attract players that might not be as enthusiastic about the game's highly competitive PvP action. Bungie was acquired by Sony in July 2022 for $3.6 billion, with the PlayStation 5 manufacturer shifting its strategy away from live service titles significantly since then.
News - Franchises Like Deus Ex And TimeSplitters Might Just Have A Future
Embracer Group will split itself into two separate companies--Fellowship Entertainment and Embracer--in 2027, with the former maintaining the majority of the publisher's biggest video game IP. While Fellowship Entertainment will have a large focus on franchises like Lord of the Rings and Tomb Raiders, there will apparently be room for some of the company's other titles to thrive as well.
Embracer's chair of the board Lars Wingefors told investors that it will be seeking partners to work on some of Fellowship's "other well-known IP such as Saints Row, Legacy of Kain, Deus Ex, Red Faction, The Mask, Thief, TimeSplitters," and more. Wingefors added that the company sees potential in teaming up with partners on some of its AAA franchises as well, including Kingdom Come: Deliverance, Dead Island, Darksiders, Remnant, and Metro.
Dark Horse Comics--which was purchased by Embracer in 2022--will play a role in utilizing the company's IP, and Embracer's announcement noted the publisher's "long track record of co-producing film and TV shows with partners in Hollywood."
As part of Embracer's investor presentation, Kingdom Come: Deliverance developer Warhorse Studios revealed that it's working on an open-world Middle-earth RPG set in the Lord of the Rings franchise. Warhorse also noted that it's developing a new Kingdom Come adventure, but didn't share many details beyond that.
One of Embracer's next big titles is the return of its Metro franchise. This winter, Metro 2039 will revive the series after a seven-year hiatus by introducing a new main character. It will be available on Xbox Series X|S, PS5, and PC,

Here's a breakdown of each edition available so far.
Mortal Kombat 2 is currently tearing up the box office with bigger--and bloodier--spectacle, and naturally, preorders for its upcoming Blu-ray release are live. As usual, you'll have the option to choose from several versions of the movie, including a Walmart-exclusive steelbook edition. A release date hasn't been confirmed yet, but here's a breakdown of each edition available to preorder currently.
Mortal Kombat 2 Steelbook Edition (4K Blu-ray)
$38 | Release date TBA
Walmart's exclusive steelbook edition features a striking selection of images, starting with the film's primary antagonist Shao Kahn on the front and his adopted daughter Princess Kitana on the rear. Open the steelbook edition up, and you'll find a screenshot from the film, featuring Liu Kang facing off against the resurrected Kung Lao. At the time of writing, exact tech specs haven't officially been revealed yet for any of the upcoming Mortal Kombat 2 editions, but this version does include a standard Blu-ray copy and a digital streaming key.
Like previous releases, this will likely be a native 4K release with support for the usual features, like Dolby Vision, HDR10, and Dolby Atmos. As for the special features, a handful of them will accompany Mortal Kombat 2. These include documentaries on how the storyline was shaped, the expansion of the realms, and a closer look at each warrior featured in the movie.

Here's where to preorder each version:
Continuing shortly after the events of Mortal Kombat, the sequel sees the battle for Earthrealm finally begin. Outworld emperor Shao Kahn will stop at nothing to win the Mortal Kombat tournament so that he can finally invade Earth, and it's up to a handful of chosen champions to step up and thwart the tyrant's schemes. Mortal Kombat 2 features an expanded cast with new and familiar faces in the roster.
One of the big additions to the roster is Karl Urban--who portrays former Hollywood action star Johnny Cage--and several other fan-favorite characters like Kitana, Baraka, and Noob Saibot also appear in the movie.
If you're looking to complete your Blu-ray collection, you can pick up several more Mortal Kombat movies on 4K Blu-ray. A steelbook edition of the 2021 movie is still available through Amazon for $30, and the classic '90s movie adaptations were recently remastered in 4K and are scheduled to be released on June 30. For all of these and more, you can check out our feature on every Mortal Kombat Blu-ray you can buy right now.

News - Star Wars Jedi Veteran’s Dungeons & Dragons Game Has Been Canceled
In June 2025, Wizards of the Coast announced a partnership with Giant Skull--the studio founded by Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order and God of War III director Stig Asmussen--for a "single-player action-adventure title set in the world of Dungeons & Dragons." Unfortunately, that project has now been canceled just shy of the one-year anniversary of that announcement.
According to Bloomberg, Wizards of the Coast's parent company, Hasbro, and Giant Skull both confirmed that the untitled Dungeons & Dragons game is no longer happening.
"We assess concepts at every stage of development," said Wizards of the Coast in a statement. "While we decided not to pursue an early concept from Giant Skull, we have great respect for Stig Asmussen and his team and value our ongoing relationship." The company reportedly added t,” a spokesperson for Wizards of the Coast said, adding that it is still talking pitches from Giant Skull about new potential projects.
Asmussen told the outlet that "things are good at Giant Skull," and added that the developer is taking with other companies about future publishing deals.
Following the blockbuster success of Larian Studios' Baldur's Gate 3, Hasbro and Wizards of the Coast revealed plans to invest $1 billion in AAA game development in 2024. Since then, Hasbro has closed down Atomic Arcade, the developer of a single-player G.I. Joe game starring Snake Eyes. Last year, Starbreeze also canceled its Dungeons & Dragons game in favor of focusing on its own signature franchise, Payday.
Wizards of the Coast currently has a partnership with developer Archetype Studios for a space-opera RPG called Exodus, as well as a D&D game, Warlock: Dungeons & Dragons, coming from Invoke Studios. Warlock was unveiled at The Game Awards, and it will be a third-person action-adventure game starring a character who can utilize "immersive, expressive magic."
