News - Overwatch 2 Will Roll Out 6v6 Testing During Season 14
When Season 14 arrives in December for Overwatch 2, Blizzard will bring back 6v6 matches with two different tests. The original game featured those team sizes, but the sequel controversially replaced that setup with 5v5 competitions.
Overwatch 2 director Aaron Keller detailed the upcoming 6v6 experiments on the game's website. The first test should land during the first week of Season 14 (currently scheduled to launch December 10) and will incorporate team compositions of "at least 1 of each role, and no more than 3." Then, in the middle of Season 14, Overwatch 2 will try out "the classic 2-2-2 composition" with a few changes.
Keller explained that these two Season 14 tests--plus more on the way--will "not only judge our player's appetite for larger team sizes, but for us to explore different ways that we might implement a change without running into the same problems we had previously." There seems to be a lot up for consideration for Overwatch 2 in regard to 6v6. For instance, Keller stated that previously he couldn't foresee 5v5 and 6v6 both working together in the sequel. But now, he's open to the idea.

News - New Ghostbusters HasLab Campaign Gives Fans What They Want--And Puts Louis Tu
2024 marks two milestones for the Ghostbusters franchise: the 40th anniversary of the first movie and the 35th for the second. Hasbro is giving fans a HasLab campaign for both films with its latest offering that includes, for the first time ever in the Plasma Series line, the librarian ghost from Ghostbusters, Eleanore Twitty (Ruth Oliver), and Louis Tully (Rick Moranis) in the iconic jumpsuit.
The campaign comes in two tiers, one for each movie. The "base" model includes the Ecto-1 car, Eleanore, and a brand-new Slimer figure. That set is being offered for about $350. Alternatively, the "deluxe" tier includes the car and both figures, plus an Ecto-1A rooftop conversion kit that was seen in Ghostbuster 2. Also included are all four Ghostbusters in their dark gray suits from the sequel and a slew of accessories, all for a $400 pledge. The crowdfunding campaign ends on December 2 and is currently slightly over halfway funded.
GameSpot was on hand at Hasbro's Pulse event during New York Comic Con and spoke to designer Pat Dennis and Emily Bader from Hasbro about the campaign, what the Plasma Series means to them, and what it took to get this all together--which included having to get likeness rights for Twitty.

News - Blumhouse And Peacock's Immersive Horror Hotel Needs To Be A Halloween Staple
Horror fans know that October is typically filled with absolutely ghoulish delights. This year, one of the best scares comes care of Blumhouse and Peacock.
This past week, I attended Blumhouse and Peacock's Overnightmare at the Stanley Hotel in Estes Park, Colorado. While I had previously heard of the Stanley, which is the spooky hotel that inspired Stephen King's The Shining (and is haunted) (I cannot stress enough that this hotel is haunted for real), I had no idea what could be in store for me in what was billed as an "immersive overnight experience" based on the films of Blumhouse.

Checking in
Upon arrival at the Stanley Hotel's Lodge, I was greeted by what the event invitation referred to as a "conci-scare-ge"--and though I had initially assumed that this would be nothing more than a cute, thematic pun, it was clear that I had been gravely mistaken. (See? I can do puns too.)

Severance Season 1 on Blu-ray releases on December 17, exactly one month before Season's January 17 premiere. It retails for $43, but Amazon has cut the price to $31.24. It's Prime-eligible and gets Amazon's preorder price guarantee, which means that if the cost changes between now and release, you'll only be charged the lowest price.
Severance was GameSpot's pick for the best TV show of 2022. The sci-fi series is set in the near future where technological advancements allow people to "sever" the memories of their work life from their personal life. The benefit for people who undergo the procedure is that they live their lives without ever remembering working (or other unpleasant things, as the show slowly begins to reveal). But in practice, this means that severed people are effectively two people--they're one person in regular life, an "outie," and a second person, or "innie," at work, because the work version of them never experiences anything but work. It's like falling asleep the second you step out of the office and waking up the second you step back in.

News - Most Of Prince Of Persia: The Lost Crown Team "Shifted To Other Projects"
It sounds as if the sands in the hourglass have run out for a sequel to the Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown. Ubisoft has decided to move a majority of the team who worked on the metroidvania title to "other projects" at the company.
Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown senior producer Abdelhak Elguess issued a statement to GameSpot confirming that the game's team is no longer together. "Most of the team members who worked on Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown have shifted to other projects that will benefit from their expertise," Elguess said. "We know players have a love for this brand, and Ubisoft is excited to bring more Prince of Persia experiences in the future."
News - Project Ethos Is Delightfully Different, But Struggles With Its Identity
The tepid player response to recent big-budget live-service titles has left many fans of the genre--this writer included--wondering which studio would be next to unveil a new live-service shooter in an era that is already oversaturated with them. After the striking failure of Concord, who would be brave enough to step onto the stage and attempt to sell players on their latest live-service creation?
Rather unexpectedly, the answer is 2K Games, which revealed its newest title last week. Known as Project Ethos, 2K's new free-to-play title was developed by 31st Union, which describes the game as a "third-person roguelike hero-shooter." If you're wondering what the hell that means, you're not alone, but after attending the game's hands-on preview event and getting a feel for Project Ethos, I'm pretty well-equipped to explain the game's (admittedly somewhat convoluted) premise.
31st Union is the first to admit that the game's concept is a little difficult to describe in a concise manner, declaring in a recent press release, "The best way to learn about Project Ethos is to play it."
