Assassin's Creed Valhalla Release Date Leaked, Launching This November

A day ahead of Ubisoft Forward, a deleted ad on Instagram has leaked the release date for Assassin's Creed Valhalla. The Viking-themed installment will launch on November 17 on Xbox One, PS4, and PC.

The ad, which was posted by the game's official Italian account, showed no new gameplay but did end with the release date front and center. We've known since its reveal that Valhalla was scheduled to launch sometime this year, but now we have an exact date.

Ubisoft has struggled containing its announcements to its own event, taking place today Far Cry 6, staring Breaking Bad's Giancarlo Esposito, was leaked with a premature listing on PSN, and later confirmed with a short teaser by Ubisoft. Since then the full reveal trailer has leaked too, which will likely be shown at Ubisoft Forward. We'll likely also hear about unannounced games during the event. It's also possible we'll see gameplay demonstrations for previously announced games.

Hey Xbox Insiders! We have a new Xbox One update preview coming to the Alpha Skip-Ahead ring. It’s important we note that some updates made in these preview OS builds include background improvements that ensure a quality and stable build for Xbox One.

We continue to post these release notes, even when the noticeable changes to the UI are minimal, so you’re aware when updates are coming to your device. Details can be found below!

Xbox Insider Release Notes

System Update Details:

  • OS version released: RS_XBOX_RELEASE_2008\19041.3873.200701-0000
  • Available: 6 p.m. PT – July 2, 2020
  • Mandatory: 3 a.m. PT – July 3, 2020

Fixes Implemented

Thanks to the hard work of Xbox engineers, we are happy to announce the following fixes have been implemented for this build:

Game DVR

  • We’ve implemented a fix for recording clips in 4K.
    • Note: If you continue to see clips not record, report it from the console.

System

  • Various updates to properly reflect local languages across the console
    • Note: Users participating in Preview may see “odd” text across the console, for more information go here.

Known Issues

We understand some issues have been listed in previous Xbox Insider Release Notes. These items aren’t being ignored, but it will take Xbox engineers more time to find a solution.

We’re still tracking these known issues:

Activity Feeds

  • Users looking at Activity Feeds in various areas (Clubs, Profile, etc.) may notice some odd UI issues as well as Previews not loading when browsing content. The developers are aware and working on the behavior.

Audio

  • Users who have Dolby Atmos enabled and console display settings set to 120hz with 36 bits per pixel (12-bit) are experiencing loss of Dolby Atmos audio in some situations.
    • Workaround: Disable 120hz or set Video Fidelity to 30 bits per pixel (10-bit) or lower.
  • Some users have reported that Dolby Atmos for Headphones audio setting changes when the console is rebooted/updated.
    • Note: If you attempt to set the audio to Dolby Atmos for Headphones and see a message advising you to launch the Dolby Access App, please file feedback before launching the app.

Guide

  • When installing or updating a game/app, the installation progress bar may not show progress.  The issue is known and being investigated.
  • We’ve received reports that the Friends tab is not showing the correct status of online/offline friends.
  • Some users may notice that the Guide has changed appearance and functionality, this is expected behavior as there are certain experiences being flighted among a random subset of users in Preview.

Messages

  • Users are reporting that Message notifications that have been marked as read are re-appearing as new. We are aware and investigating the behavior.

My Games & Apps

  • Users have reported seeing black tiles instead of game artwork when browsing their collection.
    • Note: We are still investigating the issue, please report the issue again from the console if you have done so with a prior update and are still seeing this behavior.
  • Some titles in collection may appear with a “trial” tag incorrectly in collection.

Profile Color

  • Sometimes users may encounter the incorrect Profile color when powering on the console.

Make sure to use Report a problem to keep us informed of your issue. We may not be able to respond to everyone, but the data we’ll gather is crucial to finding a resolution.

AppleInsider - New Apple TV+ ‘Greyhound’ trailer focuses on high crew tension

New Apple TV+ ‘Greyhound’ trailer focuses on high crew tension

Apple has released a second “Inside Look” trailer promoting the Apple TV movie “Greyhound,” with the new video providing viewers with more of an idea of what it would have been like to be aboard the ships during the extremely dangerous mission.

Subtitled “Inside Look: High Stakes at Sea,” the three-minute video expands on an earlier trailer by explaining the viewpoint of the ordeal from those at the center of “Greyhound.” As suggested by the cast and crew in the video, the people involved would have been under immense pressure, with the grim possibility of death at any time.

“Just imagine any way a sheep would try to ecape a pack of wolves and you’ve got a ship trying to get away from the Nazi submarines,” said Tom Hanks, who plays Captain Ernest Krause, the naval officer in charge of an international armada of ships delivering troops and supplies to allied forces during the Battle of the Atlantic.

[embedded content]

“That was the game of The Battle of the Atlantic” Hanks continues. “The Nazis had submarines, U-boats, and their job was to sink any allied ship that was floating at sea.”

The video also includes pieces from military advisor and retired captain Dale Dye, director Aaron Schneider, and co-star Rob Morgan. Much of the video covers the weight on Krause’s shoulders, which Morgan explains was due to having “a lot of lives at his hands, and every decision he makes determines the outcome of the whole crew.”

“Greyhound” was released to Apple TV on July 10, but endured a somewhat turbulent marketing campaign. In an early interview, Hanks expressed disappointment that the film was being shown on Apple TV+ instead of theaters, but later he clarified his comments to say he was “actually thrilled that Apple TV+ is making it possible for everyone to see it.”

News - Don’t Worry, Crysis Remastered Is Still Coming To Nintendo Switch On July 23rd

Don’t Worry, Crysis Remastered Is Still Coming To Nintendo Switch On July 23rd

Crysis

Last week, we got our first look at Crysis Remastered. After seeing fans’ reactions, Crytek decided to delay the game “by a few weeks” – explaining how it was committed to delivering a high-quality experience, across all platforms.

So what’s going on with the Switch release now? Well, according to Crytek’s official Crysis account on Twitter, this particular version will still make the original launch date of July 23rd. Here’s the confirmation:

Yep, it seems the Switch version of the game will actually be arriving on time. As it stands, this delay only applies to Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and the PC version of the game.

Why is the Switch release launching on time? One guess is that Saber Interactive – the co-developer of the Nintendo version – has already done everything it can to make the game look as good as it possibly can on the system.

Will you be trying out the Switch version of Crysis Remastered? Tell us down below.

Weird West Debuts New Footage At Devolver Stream

Weird West, the immersive sim from the co-creators of Prey and Dishonored, got a short-but-sweet new look during the Devolver Digital stream. In the three-minute presentation, creative director Raphael Colantonio walked us through the basics of how the game works and the multiple ways you can outsmart and outflank your enemies.

The game features five heroes with interlocking narratives that shift as you make your way through the game. As Colantonio explained, your actions will have permanent consequences for your companions. You can revive and keep playing, but if your companion fell in combat and you didn't revive them before you were taken down, they're gone for good.

To deal with the weird western enemies, you can employ a number of different playstyles--from a classic guns-blazing forward attactk to laying traps and using stealth. The presentation also explained how the game relies on a mixture of scripted and dynamic events to create authored moments that still leave a lot of flexibility.

[Tut] Python Ternary — Tuple Syntax Hack
Posted by: xSicKxBot - 07-12-2020, 05:12 AM - Forum: Python - No Replies

Python Ternary — Tuple Syntax Hack

You may know the ternary operator x if c else y in Python which reads as “return x if c else return y“. But you may not know that you can also write the ternary operator in a shorter form as (y, x)[c]. Let’s dive into this concise way of hacking your own ternary operator!

Python Ternary Tuple Syntax

A shorthand form of the ternary operator is the following tuple syntax hack.

Syntax: You can use the tuple syntax (x, y)[c] consisting of a tuple (x, y) and a condition c enclosed in a square bracket. Here’s a more intuitive way to represent this tuple syntax.

(<OnFalse>, <OnTrue>)[<Condition>]

Operand Description
<OnTrue> The return expression of the operator in case the condition evaluates to True
<Condition> The condition that determines whether to return the <On True> or the <On False> branch.
<OnFalse> The return expression of the operator in case the condition evaluates to False
Tuple Syntax of the Ternary Operator

Exercise: Run the code and compare both ternary operators—the original and the tuple syntax hack.

In fact, the order of the <OnFalse> and <OnTrue> operands is just flipped when compared to the basic ternary operator. First, you have the branch that’s returned if the condition does NOT hold. Second, you run the branch that’s returned if the condition holds.

age = 17
print(('wtf', 'What?')[age<20]) 'What?'

The condition age<20 holds so the return value passed into the print() function is the <OnTrue> branch 'What?'. Don’t worry if this confuses you—you’re not alone. Let’s clarify why this tuple syntax works the way it does!

First, you create a tuple ('wtf', 'What?'). To access the first tuple value 'wtf', you’d use the standard indexing syntax ('wtf', 'What?')[0]. To access the second tuple value 'What?', you’d use the standard indexing syntax ('wtf', 'What?')[1].

Second, you create a condition age<20. You use this condition as the indexing value. You end up with either ('wtf', 'What?')[False] or ('wtf', 'What?')[True]. As you may know, the Booleans False and True are represented through integers 0 and 1 in Python. Thus, you get ('wtf', 'What?')[0] and ('wtf', 'What?')[1], respectively.

In other words: if your condition evaluates to False, you access the first tuple value. If your condition evaluates to True, you access the second tuple value.
