The internship season at Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, is about to start, and too many students reached out to me in the past couple months, saying they were not prepared enough and wanted to opt out of the process. This is a very natural tendency when we see people around us with 9+ CGs, amazing interns, great leadership positions and whatnot. When we know there is no chance of bagging an intern, why waste time in the process? The answer was simple: NEVER OPT OUT until there’s no company that fits your aspirations. If there is even one, prepare that CV, learn that process, see how the resume portal works, see how interview shortlists come out, and see how companies and the placement team deal with students. Understanding the process will help you out in the placement season, make you more aware of how companies think and be an experience in which, if you look forward progressively, you can learn a lot.
