Get free goodies in Ailment prequel Endurance, out this week

The talented developer behind 2019’s pixel art shooter Ailment, Ivan Panasenko, is back with an explosive new prequel, Endurance, which just launched this week on iOS and Android. This action-packed adventure takes place before the events of the first game, and challenges you to explore the eponymous laboratory spaceship Endurance to figure out where a deadly virus originated.

You see, this virus had the unfortunate side effect of making the ship’s crew go insane. So it’s up to you to fight your way through the insane hordes to figure out what happened and rescue any surviving crew members along the way.

There are multiple different characters to choose from, and you can upgrade all of them with new weapons and abilities as you progress. That will come in handy; particularly against one of the game’s many bosses. The action takes place from a top-down perspective over the course of a ton of different levels, with humour and combat in abundance. If you liked Ailment, suffice to say that you’ll basically love Endurance.

To celebrate this week’s launch, we’ve teamed up with Panasenko himself to bring 30 lucky Pocket Tactics readers a bunch of free in-game goodies for Endurance, and you simply fill in one of the Gleam forms below, though please pay careful attention to the platform details above each form.

We’ve got 15 iOS and 15 Android codes up for grabs. We need your full name and email address so we can contact you in a week’s time if you win. We also require that you read our full terms and conditions before you enter, listed here.

People are being arrested over selling hacks for China’s version of PUBG Mobile

Twelve people have gotten themselves into hot water with police in China over allegedly selling hacks for the Chinese version of PUBG Mobile. As translated and reported by Abacus, the group used Bitcoin to purchase the cheats from “overseas personnel” before going on to sell them to Peacekeeper Elite players. Kunshan police say the business is worth up to $15 million, which makes me question what I’m doing with my life.

The hacks themselves are relatively standard. The cheats give players the ability to see people through walls and hit as many headshots as they please through the use of an aimbot, which is particularly brutal given it’s a mobile FPS game. The punishment is currently unclear if the group is found guilty, but people have been fined for similar offences. As Abacus further points out, two men were given a one-year prison sentence and a $2,833 fine for creating Honor of Kings hacks.

If you’re unaware, Peacekeeper Elite is Tencent’s Chinese version of PUBG Mobile. Despite initially being available in China, the battle royale game was modified and re-released under a different name to satisfy China’s censorship restrictions. Peacekeeper still looks just like PUBG Mobile, from character models to general graphic texts. In this version, though, there is no blood or gore, and words like ‘kill’ are swapped to non-violent alternatives like ‘defeat’.

It appears that PUBG Mobile hacks aren’t just limited to China, however. A glance at the game’s unofficial Subreddit page reveals several complaints from players in the last few hours alone. There’s even a specific post flare designed to report accounts of cheating.

5th time today getting killed by a cheater 🤦🏽‍♂️ so annoying from PUBGMobile

We’ve reached out for more information and will update this story if we hear back. In the meantime, though, you can check out our PUBG Mobile update guide for more up-to-date information on what’s going on. We even have a guide on the best multiplayer mobile games if you fancy something different.

Mad Miramar heads up content for PUBG Mobile season 13

Tencent Games has announced a major update for PUBG Mobile. The content drop is set for May 7 and will kick off the thirteenth season of the game, introducing a variety of new features and updates. The main highlight of this will be Mad Miramar, which will add two sections to the pre-existing map, including an oasis in the north, and ruins in the north-west. There will also be more resources spawning throughout the map.

The crowning glory of the update, however, is the new rust-punk style race track which runs through the entire area, as well as a new vehicle to race on it. The golden mirado, a one-of-a-kind golden convertible, will spawn on the map, and only be available to whoever grabs it first.

Some other quality of life changes include the addition of vending machines, which will dispense painkillers and energy drinks, with the possibility of you collecting eight at a time. The other main map update is the cheer park, an area where you and your friends can kick back and relax after a match, with shooting ranges, and an outdoor BBQ.

Full update notes haven’t been released yet, but should appear in the next few days before it rolls out on May 7. You can find more details in the trailer:

There are changes to the results screen too, which now lets you see stats such as revives, assists, distance traveled, and time survived. This, as well as a variety of weapon-based information, will be a great tool for perfecting your game.

Guns are also getting some love, with the P90 submachine gun’s  inclusion in arena mode, a new 2.7x scope for the Win97 carbine, and a new canted site for classic mode, giving you three modes of weapon fire to switch between.

All in all the changes should be a great increase to the game’s quality of life. If you want to find out more about upcoming PUBG content, check out the PUBG mobile website.

Catalyst Black is an upcoming hero shooter by the makers of Vainglory

Super Evil Megacorp has just announced Catalyst Black, an upcoming hero shooter that features a wide variety of inspirations, including its own Vainglory. It takes the top-down gameplay of Vainglory, mixes it with the hero shooting mechanics of Overwatch, and sprinkles the loot and loadouts from Destiny 2 to create possibly the ultimate mobile game.

The closest comparison to Catalyst Black right now is Supercell’s Brawl Stars, which is a more traditional hero shooter that plays like a MOBA. Catalyst Black will massively expand on this format thanks to the sheer amount of control you can have over your playable character. You can equip primary and secondary weapons, and active and passive abilities.

You can also equip your character with a mask, which basically functions as its ultimate ability. Masks let you basically become the avatar of a god, changing your appearance and providing you with powerful new abilities whenever you activate it. There are a bunch of different masks to choose from, and you can tweak the active and passive abilities for each of them too.

It’s entirely possible to create your own playstyle using the loadout system, which is a welcome change to similar shooter Brawl Stars, where your hero choice determines how you play. You can fight from the safety of distance or get stuck right in with a shotgun. It’s entirely up to you.

In terms of modes, we don’t know anything concrete yet, but we do know that there will be a bunch of them, and they’re designed for 10-20 players to compete against each other in teams. What’s perhaps most interesting, is that you can drop in, and out, of matches at any time, allowing you to play no matter how much time you have on your hands.

We’re not sure exactly when we’ll get our hands on Catalyst Black, as it’s only in pre-alpha right now. We do know that it’s designed to be cross-platform though, and if it follows the same path as Vainglory, it will launch across iOS, Android, PC, and Mac. In its introductory trailer, Super Evil Megacorp mentioned that it will support touch, controllers, and keyboard and mouse.

We’ll keep you posted as we learn more about Catalyst Black. If you’re intrigued, you can visit the official site, or follow the game on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram.

Activision has announced a Call of Duty: Mobile world championship 2020 tournament

Activision has announced the Call of Duty: Mobile world championsip 2020 tournament in partnership with Sony. It opens on April 30 to all players ranked veteran or above in multiplayer, with a bunch of exclusive cosmetics and cash prizes available to those lucky few who make it to the top. There’s over $1 million in prizes in total, sponsored by Sony.

The tournament will take place over numerous different stages, the first of which is the qualifiers. These take place between April 30 and May 24, and will see players ranked at least veteran in multiplayer duke it out for in-game rewards. The battles will take place on each weekend during this period, and the absolute best will qualify for stage two.

There are four weekends in total to compete in, and you’ll earn tournament points for your first ten ranked matches each weekend. You’ll receive more points for a win at higher ranks, and your goal is to hit 80 points in one of the four weekends to qualify for stage two. Even if you don’t make it that far, there are rewards up for grabs just for earning tournament points and signing up.

To compete, you’ll need an eligible mobile device, be over 18 years old, and live in a participating region. You’ll also need to be at least veteran rank in multiplayer, as we mentioned earlier.

Looking ahead at stage two, you’ll need to form a team out of qualified players and compete together to progress to further stages. Activision is yet to announce the full details of further stages yet though, including prizes.

You can grab Call of Duty: Mobile right now from the App Store or Google Play. If you want to compete, there’s still time to boost your rank to veteran, making you eligible.
