Honkai Star Rail Asta build

Aboard the Herta Space station, it’s near impossible to do anything without first running it by the lead researcher, Honkai Star Rail’s Asta. This lovely young lady commands the entire space station, and is on a constant search for new knowledge to sate her curiosity. So come along with us as we go stargazing with Honkai Star Rail’s Asta, and learn all about her personality, skills, eidolons, best light cones, and relics.

If you want to introduce yourself to the rest of the Herta Space Station staff, then hop aboard the Astral Express with our Honkai Star Rail tier list and Honkai Star Rail characters guide. We’ve also got builds for all the other friendly faces you can meet on your Trailblazing adventure, including Honkai Star Rail’s Herta, Honkai Star Rail’s Arlan, and more, and plenty of goodies to grab in our Honkai Star Rail codes and Honkai Star Rail events guides.

Now let’s get this research mission underway, as we fly straight into our Honkai Star Rail Asta build guide.

What’s the best Honkai Star Rail Asta build?

Honkai Star Rail’s Asta is a four-star fire character who treads the path of Harmony, meaning her main role is to buff her allies. Her varied kit may seem underwhelming at first glance, but can certainly shine under the right circumstances. She fits quite a niche role, increasing her allies’ speed with her ultimate, and buffing their attack by dealing damage through her passive.

If you equip her with her signature light cone, she works best with other fire characters like Honkai Star Rail’s Hook and Honkai Star Rail’s Himeko. However, she’s not the most sustainable without a shielder or a healer on her team, which restricts your team comp options quite dramatically. On the other hand, the buffs she supplies are not to be sniffed at, as they can quickly sway a battle in your favour.

When building Asta, we recommend aiming to increase her fire damage, effect hit rate, and speed above other stats.

Which light cone should I use for Honkai Star Rail’s Asta?

The four-star light cone Planetary Rendezvous is tailored specifically to Asta’s kit. However, its skill is very specific, and is only worthwhile if you have a mono-fire team. Therefore, under other circumstances, it may be better to equip her with a different light cone to suit your team’s needs.

But the Battle Isn’t Over is a strong five-star option which increases Asta’s energy regeneration rate, restores skill points for her team, and boosts an ally’s damage. Other than that, pretty much all of the Harmony-aligned light cones offer useful buffs for Asta’s team, so feel free to pick whatever one suits your desired team.

Light cone Effect How to obtain
Planetary Rendezvous When all allies deal the same damage type as Asta, damage dealt increases by 16% Gacha
But the Battle Isn’t Over Increases the wearer’s energy regeneration rate by 10% and regenerates one skill point when the wearer uses their ultimate on an ally. This effect can only occur once every two uses of the wearer’s ultimate. When the wearer uses their skill, the next ally that takes action (other than the wearer) deals 30% more damage for one turn Gacha or the Starlight Exchange store

Which relics should I use for Honkai Star Rail’s Asta?

Asta’s kit (aside from her ult) revolves around dishing out fire damage and hitting as many enemies as possible. As such, four pieces of Firesmith of Lava-Forging is a decent option for the fire and skill damage increase.

In terms of her two remaining slots, we recommend Fleet of the Ageless for its team-wide buff, or Pan-Galactic Commercial Enterprise to boost her effect hit rate.

Relic Effect How to obtain
Firesmith of Lava-Forging  Two equipped: increases fire damage by 10%
Four equipped: increases Asta’s skill damage by 12%. After she uses her ultimate, increases her fire damage by 12% for her next attack
Cavern of Corrosion: Path of Conflagration in The Xianzhou Luofu’s Stargazer Navalia
Fleet of the Ageless Two equipped: increases Asta’s max HP by 12%. When her speed reaches 120 or higher, all allies’ attack increases by 8% World 3 of the Simulated Universe
Pan-Galactic Commercial Enterprise Two equipped: increases Asta’s effect hit rate by 10%. Meanwhile, her attack increases by an amount equal to 25% of the current hit rate, up to a maximum of 25% bonus World 5 of the Simulated Universe

Relic stat recommendations

When picking relics for Asta, we recommend prioritising the following stats. The increases effect hit rate is intended to help her hit more enemies with her bounce skill, so you can make the most of her passive and use it to buff the attack of your entire team.

We recommend building her speed, too, so you can capitalise on the buffs offered by the Simulated Universe relic sets, and potentially proc her passive more frequently.

Main stats:

  • Feet: speed
  • Neck: fire damage bonus
  • Article: effect hit rate

Sub-stats:

  • Fire damage bonus
  • Effect hit rate

Honkai Star Rail Asta in the Space Station

What are Honkai Star Rail’s Asta’s abilities?

Here are all of Asta’s abilities. In combat, we recommend using her ultimate as often as possible to keep boosting your team’s overall speed. Her skill doesn’t deal a dramatic amount of damage at base value, but it’s good for chipping down enemy weaknesses and charging up her ultimate faster.

Active

Skill Effect
Basic attack: Spectrum Beam Deal 50% of Asta’s attack as fire damage to a target enemy
Skill: Meteor Storm Deal 28% of Asta’s attack as fire damage to a target enemy and bombard them four more times. Each bombardment deals 28% of Asta’s attack as fire damage to a random enemy
Ultimate: Astral Blessing Increases the speed of all allies by 45 for two turns

Passive

Skill Effect
Astrometry Astra gains a charging stack for every different enemy hit, plus an additional stack if the enemy hit has fire weakness. For every charging stack Asta has, all allies’ attack increases by 6% up to five times. At the start of every turn, Asta’s charging stack count is reduced by three

Technique

Skill Effect
Miracle Flash Immediately attack the enemy. After entering battle, deal 50% of Asta’s attack as fire damage to all enemies

What are Honkai Star Rail Asta’s eidolons?

Honkai Star Rail’s eidolons, like Genshin Impact’s constellations, are bonuses and upgrades you can unlock by pulling more than one copy of a character. Here are all of Asta’s eidolons.

Eidolon  Effect
E1: A Star’s Lyricless Song When using Asta’s skill, deal additional damage once to a target enemy
E2: The Moon Understands its Cycle When using Asta’s ultimate, she doesn’t reduce her charging stacks for the next turn
E3: The Ecliptic Meteorite’s Change Increases the level of Asta’s ultimate level by three, up to a maximum of level 15, and the level of her basic attack by one, up to a maximum of ten
E4: When the Aurora Manifests When Asta’s talent charging stack count reaches one or higher, her energy restoration rate increases by 25%
E5: Mystery of Deep Space Objects Increases the level of Asta’s skill by three, up to a maximum of level fifteen, and increases the level of her basic attack by one, up to a maximum of level ten
E6: Sleep Under the Milky Way The chagrin stack reduction of Asta’s talent is reduced by one

What are Honkai Star Rail Asta’s ascension materials?

You can get Asta all the way up to level 80, but you need to use specific materials to raise her ascension rank at certain intervals. Here are all the materials you need to get Asta to max level.

You can get the silvermane badges and their higher-grade counterparts, silvermane insignia and silvermane medals, from the silvermane guard enemies on Jarilo-VI, Honkai Star Rail Simulated Universe enemies, assignment rewards, and the embers exchange store. The endotherm chitin are drops from the Shape of Blaze Honkai Star Rail Stagnant Shadow in Jarilo-VI’s silvermane guard restricted zone.

Who is Honkai Star Rail’s Asta?

Honkai Star Rail relics – what they are and where to find them

Each new Honkai Star Rail beta has given us a look into different elements of the gameplay, and one of the most recent additions was Honkai Star Rail relics. If you’re familiar with Hoyoverse’s other title Genshin Impact, then you can think of relics as like artifacts. They’re relatively new to the game, so let’s dive in and explore the world of HSR relics.

We’ve got guides on everything you need to know about Hoyoverse’s newest turn-based RPG, including all the Honkai Star Rail characters, a Honkai Star Rail tier list, and information on the Honkai Star Rail release date. Plus, we’re prepared for when the first Honkai Star Rail codes drop too.

What are Honkai Star Rail relics?

Relics are the main way in Honkai Star Rail that you can boost your stats. There’s a range of buffs and set bonuses on offer that benefit different characters, so you can mix and match them to best suit your build. You can equip a maximum of six relics to any one character and you get additional bonuses for using multiple of the same set.

Honkai Star Rail relics: An in-game menu showing four relics equipped to a character.

There are six different types of relic. Each of them has a main stat, which you can see below.

Relic type Potential stats
Head HP
Hands Attack
Body Defence
Feet %ATK / %DEF / %HP / Speed
Neck %ATK / %DEF / %HP / Elemental Damage Bonus
Article %ATK / %DEF / %HP / %Crit Rate / %Crit Damage / Outgoing Healing Boost / Effect Hit Rate

After that, the relic has a set of substats, determined by RNG. As you level up the relic, a random substat will be added or upgraded at certain intervals. Here are the potential substats, each of which can either come as a flat rate or a percentage increase:

  • Attack
  • HP
  • Defence
  • Elemental damage bonus
  • Crit rate
  • Crit damage
  • Outgoing healing boost
  • Effect hit rate

Each set of relics has a bonus for using multiple relics from the same set. There’s bonuses for using two, four, and five of the same relic type, so you can use a full set or mix and match sets with a 2:1 ratio depending on the character.

Honkai Star Rail relics: A range of relics at different rarity levels.

What Honkai Star Rail relics are there?

There are only a handful of relic sets available in the Honkai Star Rail beta, and most of them benefit different types of character builds, so we can’t say which relics are better than others just yet. We can tell you what they each do though, so keep reading for a run-down of the relic set bonuses.

We’ve recommended some characters for each relic set too, and you can click on their name to see our full build guide.

How do I get Honkai Star Rail relics?

It takes a bit of time before you unlock relics, but once you get them they’re definitely worth paying attention to. To unlock relics, you need to reach Trailblazer level 15 and get a decent way through the main story on Jarilo VI. Once you reach that point, you can farm them from various Calyx domains.

Similar to the resin system in Genshin Impact, you need to use Trailblaze Power to claim rewards from Calyx domains. This power regenerates over time to a max of 180, or you can manually top up by using fuel or Stellar Jade.

There you have it, everything you need to know about Honkai Star Rail relics. Bookmark this page and come back when we’ve discovered more about which relic sets are best for each character. If you fancy a different adventure, check out our Genshin Impact artifacts guide.

Honkai Star Rail Arlan – relics, attacks, and more

Though he may be a man of little words, Honkai Star Rail’s Arlan does a stellar job of protecting the interstellar Herta Space Station. Okay, he may not win every battle, but he’s more than willing to put his life on the line to protect those around him, and sees the scars he’s earned as badges of honour, reminding him of his purpose.

But regardless of how brave or skilled the head of the Herta Space Station’s security department is, no one should have to shoulder such responsibility alone. Luckily, with the help of our Honkai Star Rail Arlan build guide, you can help lift some of the weight off his shoulders, by getting familiar with all of his attacks and eidolons, and equipping him with the best light cones and relics. Maybe he’ll even reward you by letting you meet Peppy, his adorable little pup.

If you want to introduce yourself to the rest of the inhabitants of Herta Space Station, head over to our Honkai Star Rail tier list and Honkai Star Rail characters guides. We’ve also got a heap more build guides just like this one, including Honkai Star Rail’s Herta, Honkai Star Rail’s Himeko, and Honkai Star Rail’s Bronya.

Who is Honkai Star Rail’s Arlan?

Honkai Star Rail’s Arlan is the head of Herta Space Station’s security department, and is willing to risk his life to protect the staff on board. He’s stoic, inarticulate, and doesn’t really understand the scientific research being carried out by his fellow space station inhabitants, but he wears his scars like battles of honour, considering them a reminder of his ability to protect everyone. Despite his serious demeanour, he can be seen letting down his guard and cracking a rare smile whenever his little dog Peppy is in his arms.

Arlan is a four-star lightning wielder who treads the path of the Destruction. His English voice actor is Dani Chambers, and his Japanese voice actor is Shiraishi Ryoko.

What’s the best Honkai Star Rail Arlan build?

Arlan is a lightning wielding DPS with high damage and low survivability, and plays the role of a glass cannon in most scenarios. He specialises in taking down single targets, and his skill sees him sacrifice a portion of his HP in order to deal more damage, though he can’t use this skill if his HP is insufficient. His passive also sees his damage increase based on his lost HP.

As such, it’s important to pick the right healer for Arlan’s team. We advise against pairing him up with Honkai Star Rail’s Luocha, as his Abyss Flower skill triggers when an ally falls below 50% HP, which interferes with Arlan’s abilities. Honkai Star Rail’s Natasha is more fitting for the role, as you can control when she heals her allies, and her ultimate is a great emergency button if Arlan’s health falls too low to use his skill.

As of the beta, we recommend prioritising attack, HP, and lightning damage boost stats when building Arlan. The reason we recommend HP is because his buffs and skills are based on a percentage of his max HP rather than a flat rate, so ensuring he has high max HP means he can fall below the required threshold without being at risk of dying in one hit. However, we’re still testing builds, so this is subject to change in the game’s full release.

When it comes to team comps, we recommend pairing him with another DPS and a buffer or support in addition to Honkai Star Rail’s Natasha, but you should avoid keeping him consistently shielded unless his HP is within the required range.

Which light cone should I use for Honkai Star Rail’s Arlan?

The four-star light cone A Secret Vow is tailored to Arlan’s kit, both increasing his flat damage and allowing him to deal extra damage when an enemy has a higher HP percentage than him, which, due to his skills, is likely to be almost always active. However, if you can’t get your hands on A Secret Vow for whatever reason, you can equip him with any light cone that aligns with the path of The Destruction, preferably one that also boosts his attack.

Light cone Effect How to obtain
A Secret Vow Increases Arlan’s damage dealt by 20%. Arlan also deals an extra 20% damage to enemies with a higher HP percentage than him Gacha

Which relics should I use for Honkai Star Rail’s Arlan?

When it comes to relics, the best set for Arlan as of the beta is the Band of Sizzling Thunder, as it increases his lightning damage and shock damage. For substats, we once again recommend aiming for more attack, HP, and lightning damage. After this, you should ensure that he has a decent crit rate/crit damage ratio and some extra energy restoration.

Relic Effect How to obtain
Band of Sizzling Thunder Two equipped: increases lightning damage by 12%
Four equipped: the enemy receives 40% more shock damage from Arlan. Arlan also deals 18% more damage to enemies inflicted with shock
Five equipped: increases lightning damage by 12%
Cavern of Corrosion: Path of Roaring Thunder in Jarilo-VI’s Everwinter Hill

What are Honkai Star Rail’s Arlan’s attacks?

Active

Skill Effect
Basic attack: Lightning Rush (single attack) Deal 60% of Arlan’s attack as lightning damage to a target enemy
Skill: Shackle Breaker (single attack) Consume 15% of Arlan’s max HP to deal 165% of his attack as lightning damage to a target enemy. You can’t use this skill if Arlan’s HP is insufficient
Ultimate: Frenzies Punishment (blast) Deal 224% of Arlan’s attack as lightning damage to a target enemy, and 96% of Arlan’s attack as lightning damage to enemies adjacent to the target

Passive

Skill Effect
Pain and Anger Increases Arlan’s damage based on his lost HP, up to a max of 44%

Technique

Skill Effect
Swift Harvest Immediately attack the enemy. After entering battle, deal 80% of Arlan’s attack as lightning damage to all enemies

What are Arlan’s eidolons?

Eidolons in Honkai Star Rail are similar to Genshin Impact’s light cones. They’re unique buffs that you can only unlock by pulling more than one copy of a character. Here are all of Arlan’s eidolons.

Eidolon  Effect
Level one – To the Bitter End Arlan can use his skill when his HP is at least 5% of his max HP. If his HP is insufficient, using his skill reduces his HP to one
Level two – Breaking Free Arlan’s skill damage increases by 10%. When Arlan uses his skill, it dispels a debuff inflicted on him
Level three – Power Through  Increases the level of Arlan’s ultimate by three, up to a maximum of level of 15, and increases the level of his basic attack by one, up to a maximum of level ten
Level four – Turn the Tables When struck by a killing blow, instead of becoming incapacitated, Arlan immediately restores back to 25% of his max HP. This effect can only trigger once per battle
Level five – Hammer and Tongs Increases the level of Arlan’s skill by three, up to a maximum of level 15, and increases the level of his basic attack by one, up to a maximum of ten
Level six – Self-Sacrifice  When Arlan’s HP is lower than 50%, his ultimate’s damage increases by 15% and the damage multiplier on adjacent targets increases to that of the target enemy

That’s everything we’ve got on Honkai Star Rail’s Arlan as of the beta. We’ll be sure to update this guide as soon as the Honkai Star Rail release date rolls around. In the meantime, head over to our list of the best games like Genshin Impact for a fresh new adventure.

Honkai Star Rail release date speculation and beta

Attention all Honkai Impact 3rd players, or Hoyoverse fans in general, a new game is on the way. Honkai Star Rail’s release date might be unknown as of now, but the title serves as a sequel to Honkai Impact. As such, it’s safe to assume that it’s a JRPG, making it the third major title by Hoyoverse, behind its predecessor and Genshin Impact.

Given that Hoyoverse has just confirmed the game, it’s safe to say that the Honkai Star Rail release date is some time away. However, that doesn’t mean we can’t look at the Honkai Star Rail beta to find out further information. Hoyoverse officially unveiled the game as part of the Starfire Sonorant concert, which took place as part of the 3rd-anniversary celebration for Honkai Impact 3rd.

Honkai Star Rail has turn-based combat and will likely feature an open-world, an expansive one at that if Honkai Impact 3rd and Genshin Impact are anything to go by. The latter of which continues to grow, with new areas and characters becoming available as part of fresh Genshin Impact updates. To learn more, we recommend you check out our Honkai Star Rail characters guide when you’re done here.

Honkai Star Rail’s release date speculation

The short answer is that we don’t know the release date yet, though we do hope to see it towards the end of this year. In the September TGS Hoyoverse Special program, we were treated to plenty of gameplay footage, as well as a hint of a new Honkai Star Rail character. You can check out the fresh trailer below.
