Delivery incoming! The Mail Time release date is here

If you love cosy games and cottagecore aesthetics you’re in luck as we finally have a Mail Time release date. The game started as a solo project by first-time developer Kela Van Der Deijl and now has a team of nearly ten people working to deliver this soft, collect-a-thon adventure.

In Mail Time you play as a Mail Scout, helping your friends and acquaintances in the forest deliver their letters and parcels. You can collect bottle caps along the way and customise your character’s appearance to mirror your cottagecore fantasy.

The Mail Time team is dedicated to creating an accessible and inclusive game experience and one of the many features included is that none of the gameplay missions have a timer attached. You can choose your own path through Grumblewood Grove and progress at your own pace. Also, the character customisation menu includes a drop-down list of pronoun options and you can change these at any time during your playthrough.

When is the Mail Time release date?

Mail Time releases on PC and Mac on April 27, 2023 and comes to Nintendo Switch and other consoles this summer.

Can I play GTA V mobile?

There’s no doubt that GTA V is a juggernaut in the modern gaming world. In the near decade since its release, it has managed to maintain cultural relevance due to its freedom of exploration, unique servers, and custom mods – and it doesn’t look like it’s dying off any time soon. As such, it seems baffling that we’re yet to see an official GTA V mobile port, but with our help, you can still get your dose of crime-fuelled action on the go.

If you’re still on the hunt for more GTA fun, check out our GTA cheats guide, or our findings on the possibility of a GTA V Nintendo Switch port – we only hope that it would run better than the GTA Remastered Trilogy.

Is there an official GTA V mobile port?

While many GTA games have made their way to mobile, Rockstar hasn’t released a GTA V mobile port, mostly due to the sheer size of the game. GTA V has been out for nearly a decade at this point, and it still doesn’t look like we’re getting an official mobile port any time soon.

However, you can play GTA V on mobile either by streaming it through Steam Link, or unofficial APKs. We recommend using caution when considering unofficial APKs, especially as many of the GTA V APKs are only available through unfamiliar sites, and therefore may host viruses or malware.

How to play GTA V mobile via Steam Link

As mentioned above, the safest way to play GTA V mobile is through Steam Link. This works on both Android and iOS but requires you to have a copy of GTA V on Steam and installed on your PC. You also need to download the official Steam Link app on your mobile device. Most medium-range to high-range mobiles can run GTA V through this method with no technical issues, but you need a fast and stable internet connection with low ping to run the game smoothly on your phone.

Of course, before you go purchasing a copy of GTA V on Steam, you should make sure that your PC can handle it. Check out the GTA V system requirements and test whether your pc can run it over on PC Game Benchmark. After purchasing and installing GTA V on your PC, you need to create a GTA profile and run the game.

So, once you’ve got all that set up, follow these steps to play GTA V on mobile.

  • Download the Steam Link app on Google Play or the App Store
  • Open both the Steam Link app and the Steam client on your PC
  • In the Steam PC client, go to the ‘Steam’ tab and hit ‘settings’
  • In the settings window, go to ‘remote play’ and tick the ‘enable remote play’ checkbox
  • Hit the ‘pair steam link’ button below the list of devices
  • The Steam Link app on your phone should scan for your PC, then provide a four-digit PIN
  • Enter the PIN into the ‘authorise device’ textbox that pops up on your Steam PC client and hit ‘ok’
  • After that, your device’s name should show up in the Steam PC client’s remote play window
  • Wait for your Steam Link app to test the network connection, then hit ‘ok’
  • Hit the ‘start playing’ button to access your Steam library on your phone
  • Launch GTA V

And there you go! If you’re having trouble and would like a visual guide to help you through the steps above, check out the embedded video from Android 9 Hacks. We also recommend that you use a controller when playing GTA V on mobile, as the touchscreen controls can be a bit cumbersome.

That’s all we’ve got on GTA V mobile for now. Of course, we’ll be sure to keep you in the loop if Rockstar ever sets its sights on an official Grand Theft Auto V mobile port but, in the meantime, head over to our list of the best games like GTA on mobile and Switch for more crime spree shenanigans. Or, if you’re looking to expand your GTA experience, check out our sister site PCGN’s epic guide to the best GTA 5 RP servers.

Theatrhythm Final Bar Line may hit all the right notes

I must have spent hundreds of hours attempting to get SS rankings on every song in Theatrhythm Final Fantasy on the 3DS way back in 2012. So, when Square Enix revealed a new game in the difficult-to-spell series, I was more than excited to give the game a go on Nintendo Switch.

For those of you who have no idea what to expect from Theatrhythm, let me give you a quick rundown. Final Bar Line is a rhythm game that features almost 400 tracks from Final Fantasy, with planned DLC for Nier, Live A Live, and more tracks down the line. A very simple, easy-to-learn, hard-to-master game with a very defined audience of JRPG and rhythm game fans.

Before I get into my thoughts, it’s worth noting that the Theatrhythm Final Bar Line Switch demo is fairly limited. I chose to unlock some tunes from OG Final Fantasy VII as it’s my favourite in the series, and I was able to play five songs in total before being blocked off from more. I also accidentally chose to watch a video included in one of the many ads it showed me for the game and I couldn’t skip it so beware, lest you be trapped when you’re dying to play.

As my time with the game is so limited right now, I don’t want to comment too much on certain areas, but going from my current experience, the game is missing a beat or two that you can find in the 3DS version of the game.

Theatrhythm Final Bar Line review - a red guard scorpion showing you which song is next

For some reason, Final Bar Line on Switch doesn’t include touchscreen controls, as it does on the 3DS version, which is odd, as tapping, swiping, and holding the stylus on the screen in the original was very satisfying and worked like a dream. I do find it slightly fiddly when I have to press a direction on both analogue sticks at the same time as the Switch Joy-Cons don’t have that comfortable a layout at the best of times.

I think the jarring stops I had to face after each level for an ad also made it so I couldn’t get in a good flow, but once again, this is only going to be a problem in the demo I’m sure the flow of the full game is smooth as butter, I just can’t be sure of that right now.

In saying that, the general Final Bar Line vibes are very similar to the original game back on 3DS. You build a team of four chibi characters from numerous Square Enix IP, side-scroll across familiar backgrounds, and tap away at your Nintendo Switch Joy-Cons to the beat of some absolutely classic tunes.

I don’t think the game will surpass your expectations, but it will meet them, as it does exactly what it says on the tin. It’s a Final Fantasy rhythm game, and even with the limited roster of songs I got to play, I found myself bopping my head with a silly grin on and even managed to get SS rank on a couple of expert songs within my first half an hour of play. So, definitely try out the demo, then come back here and read my full review once I’ve played more.

While you wait for the game to release, make sure you take a look at our pieces on the Theatrhythm Final Bar Line release date and Theatrhythm Final Bar Line DLC.

Pop Up Mario looks like a barrel of laughs

The Super Mario Bros. movie is mere months away from release, and as the hype train speeds up, we’re sure to receive much more movie merchandise. On that note, today Tomy and Nintendo announced a collaboration between the toy-makers and the video game titans to develop a spin-off of the classic game Pop-Up Pirate. Pop-Up Mario is coming soon, and we’re very excited.

Set to release in March, Pop-Up Mario sees the portly plumber placed in a green pipe, and players must stick pins into it, hoping not to be the player that causes Mario to leap out with a joyous ‘WAHOO’. Designed as a family game for ages four and up, the Pop-Up Pirate game is a classic seen in many family homes for decades, so a version based on Mario is a fun way for newer players to experience the fun.

We’re sure this isn’t the wackiest piece of Mario merch promoting the upcoming movie, but it’s one of the most fun pieces to pop up so far. With any luck, Nintendo might actually announce a Super Mario game this year to capitalise on the brand’s popularity, but we wouldn’t bet on it.

If the announcement of Pop-Up Mario has got you shooting out of a pipe with joy, get a glimpse of the Super Mario Bros. movie with the full reveal trailer below.

More Tales of remasters could be on the cards for the RPG series

As the Tales of Symphonia Remastered release date approaches, a new official Q+A on the Tales of website briefly mentions the possibility of other games in the franchise receiving remasters.

The translated statement (Thanks, Siliconera!) says that the devs are sincerely grateful to fans “for their passion and desire to play older Tales of games on newer platforms”, and that they look forward to “requests for future remasters” after Tales Of Symphonia Remastered’s release on February 17.

The Q+A clarified that the team is currently focussing their attention on the Tales of Symphonia Remastered launch, but definitely doesn’t discount further remasters of games in the series on Nintendo Switch and other consoles.

Fans have reportedly been asking for a Tales of Symphonia remaster since Tales of Symphonia Chronicles came out on PS3, which is why the devs chose this game as the first to get the remaster treatment.

All I want for Christmas is Geralt

It’s the most wonderful time of the year, when you should spend as much time with your loved ones as possible – and I’m certainly keen to pay a visit to The Continent where my love waits for me, even if he happens to have a wandering eye towards two sorceresses. I can’t stay too mad at Geralt, I wouldn’t say no to Triss Merigold either. Still, this is about why my virtual husband is the one gift I hope to find under my tree this year..

Quite honestly, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is one of my favourite games of all time, and it’s something that I play over the holidays every single year. Then, of course, I usually revisit during the year at some point, too. Toussaint truly is lovely in the summer, and the walks myself, Geralt, and Roach have together are beyond magical. Those luscious plains, the stunning vineyard, that shining sun – ah, memories.

The thing is, for the past couple of years, the Christmas period hasn’t been a cause of celebration for me, the loss of my mum hit me greatly, and thus, I turned to videogames more than ever as a source of comfort, one of which just so happens to be The Witcher. However, there’s more to it than a desperate need to escape my once dismal world and join one that’s full of adventure and magic.

The Witcher 3 is a surprisingly wintery game, and I have receipts to back up my claim. Not that I need to, Geralt is my husband, and Christmas is a time to be with family. Still, I’ll explain why Geralt and his most recent adventure are all I need for Christmas. Well, besides the abundance of food, booze, and time with my real loved ones.

Geralt stood staring aheead with a bright cloudy sky behind him

Think about it, the entire world of The Witcher exhumes warmth, even if you don’t realise it, and there’s no denying how much people long to feel that way this time of year. It’s a luscious world that features varying environments that emit that warm, soothing feeling that you associate with the cosiness of winter. Not only that, but let’s take a quick look at Novigrad, or any other bustling city in Wild Hunt. You can find all manner of taverns, and stopping for a little tipple of booze is just what the doctor ordered in these cold times.

Plus, what better way to stay warm than by heading out into the wilderness to complete some contracts? Monster-slaying is a tiring business that’s sure to work up a sweat. Seriously, even from the comfort of my own couch, I feel as though I am right there with Geralt as he slaughters dangerous foes such as the Leshen (this beast just so happens to be my favourite, perhaps I’ll explain why another time).

It’s not just Geralt that entices me to this world every Christmas, nor is it the grand adventure that awaits me, though that certainly plays a part in it, but rather it’s the other characters that lure me in too. The multiple interwoven storylines that surround these characters are so intricate at times that it truly feels like unwrapping a layered present.

Geralt and Triss about to kiss with fireworks in the background

Triss Merigold is my favourite character just after Geralt, so I don’t hold it against him too much when he strays from me into her arms – I mean, I would too. Her kind and caring nature is soothing, so if Christmas is a tricky time for you, this single character in this ethereal world can serve as a reminder that people care, they’re by your side, and, thanks to certain situations in the game that admittedly don’t pertain to the red-headed sorceress (drag queen Witchers, anyone?), there’s still plenty of laughter.

Besides the aforementioned escapism, The Witcher 3 is a terrific game anyway, one that I can’t recommend enough for those that are yet to experience it, and what better time to dive in than now since the next-gen version is finally out. Plus, there’s a lovely update for all you Switch players out there.

There’s so much content on offer that, with Geralt by your side, I guarantee that you won’t be bored during your Christmas break. You truly do get your money’s worth, from an engaging narrative and interesting side quests to the vast lands of The Continent and some of the best DLC in videogame history. So do yourself a favour this Christmas, and pick up The Witcher 3. I promise you’ll then fully understand why Geralt is all I want for Christmas.

Fire Emblem Engage Emblems

We love a good RPG, and one of the very best on Switch was Fire Emblem: Three Houses just a few short years ago. If like us, you wondered what Nintendo could even do next to improve the formula, along comes a fresh new game to show us, and the Fire Emblem Engage Emblems mechanic is a fantastic way to add some variety to your troops, laying on some serious fan service for fans that have been along for the ride over the years.

Ever wanted to go into battle with the ghost of Marth at your side? Fancy swinging your sword with the spirit of Lynn? Maybe even riding into a raid with an apparition or Roy? There are a lot of Fire Emblem characters from the game’s many entries over the years, so the possibilities for Fire Emblem Engage Emblems are huge. And who knows, if the game is a huge success maybe we can even get a few more Fire Emblem characters in Smash? If you can’t wait to explore Elyios, be sure to check out our guides to the best Switch RPGs, and the best Switch strategy games next.

Let’s dive into our Fire Emblem Engage Emblems guide.

Fire Emblem Engage Emblems: a screenshot from Fire Emblem Engage shows a character from a previous Fire Emblem game brought back as a spirit called an Emblem

What are Fire Emblem Engage Emblems?

Fire Emblem Engage Emblems are the spirits of heroes from previous Fire Emblem games, and they can be equipped as companions by all of the main characters in Fire Emblem Engage. The Emblems give each regular unit a power increase, as well as add additional moves and weapon combinations to their move pool.

You can also fuse with Emblems on the battlefield to unlock the engage skills, giving your units new powerful moves and special abilities. These buffs all increase stats, and give a considerable power boost to your regular units like Alear. Finally, you can also use Emblems to unleash the powerful engage attack to overwhelm and destroy your opponents. The engage status can only be used for three turns, but as you continue to battle you can refill the meter to use the powerful boost at the most opportune time.

We don’t know yet exactly how these moves or abilities are unlocked or utilised, but we will update this guide as soon as more information is available.

All Fire Emblem Engage Emblems

Fire Emblem Engage Emblems: a screenshot from Fire Emblem Engage shows a character from a previous Fire Emblem game brought back as a spirit called an Emblem

Marth – Emblem of Light

Possibly the most recognizable face of Fire Emblem thanks to their appearance in Super Smash Bros over the years, Marth is a powerful sword user who first appeared in Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon and the Blade of Light, and its sequel Fire Emblem: Mystery of the Emblem. While we don’t know exactly how his emblem will work yet, but we know he has unique skills such as lodestar rush, divine speed, and unyielding.

Byleth – Emblem of the Academy

Hailing from Fire Emblem: Three Houses, the tutor Byleth fittingly has the skill called instructor, which can be used to boost the stats of any units nearby. They also have the skill goddess dance which not only increases stats but also allows the nearby units to act again. Byleth will be useful a support character and could be essential for helping to power up weaker units that need a boost.

Lyn – Emblem of Blazing

Lyn is a powerful brawler that uses skills that prevent foes from counter-attacking. She also has a skill known as astra storm that allows her to unleash five attacks from a distance, making her a huge threat almost anywhere on the field.

Fire Emblem Engage Emblems: a screenshot from Fire Emblem Engage shows a character from a previous Fire Emblem game brought back as a spirit called an Emblem

Celica – Emblem of Echoes

Celica has a unique skill called echo that allows her to split up her magic attacks and unleash spells on two targets at once. She also has a unique skill called warp ragnarok that allows her to warp to a faraway space and attack from there. Celica will likely be crucial at picking off weak targets and helping gain control of the map.

Sigurd – Emblem of the Holy War

Sigurd has amazing mobility out of the roster of Fire Emblem Engage Emblems, and his gallop engage skill vastly increases movement. Sigurd’s other engage skill override allows him to move through a line of foes and do damage at the same time, helping the player to get out of sticky situations.

Fire Emblem Engage Emblems: a screenshot from Fire Emblem Engage shows a character from a previous Fire Emblem game brought back as a spirit called an Emblem

Corrin – Emblem of Fates

From Fire Emblem Fates, Corrin has a dragon vein skill that allows her to remove hazards from the battlefield such as fire, or she can imbue tiles with healing effects to help turn the tide in battle. She also has a powerful engage skill called torrential roar that reaches all enemies in front and adds the water effect to the terrain as well.

That’s all we have for now folks, but we already know there are at least twelve Emblem rings in Fire Emblem Engage, so we expect to be updating this guide with even more heroes from the series’ past. Luckily we don’t have long to wait, as the Fire Emblem Engage release date is right around the corner.
